Week 13 Start 'Em Sit 'Em: The San Francisco 49ers Defense and Can't-Miss Studs

Jesse ReedDec 1, 2011

Week 13 is already here, and the fantasy football playoffs are right around the corner. Now is the time to make sure you don't make the wrong picks and miss out on the postseason. I have collected can't-miss fantasy studs at every position for you.

Make the right choice and pick these men for your team this week.

QB: Tom Brady

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots host the hapless Indianapolis Colts in Week 13, and there hasn't been a bigger mismatch on the schedule all year long.

Besides its two pass rushers, Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, the Colts defense is a collection of players that slightly resemble Swiss cheese.

Brady and his mates on offense will have a field day with the Colts. You can be sure that Brady will pad his seasonal stats on his way to breaking Dan Marino's single-season passing record.

RB: Arian Foster

I know the Atlanta Falcons are playing well on defense right now, but they travel to play in Houston against the Texans. Arian Foster will have a big game, as the Texans will rely on him and Ben Tate to carry the load on offense.

Foster is, in my opinion, the best dual-threat running back in the NFL. He is just as explosive running as he is catching the ball out of the backfield. I expect him to have at least one touchdown running and one receiving.

One thing that will help his cause is the return to the lineup of Andre Johnson, who had been out nursing an injury.

WR: Dez Bryant

The Dallas Cowboys are on a run right now, as they travel to face the Arizona Cardinals on the road this weekend.

The Cardinals are atrocious on defense, and Tony Romo is hot. I expect Bryant to have a huge performance against Patrick Peterson and the Cardinals secondary.

TE: Rob Gronkowski

Gronkowski is one of the biggest fantasy performers of the 2011 NFL season, and he will continue to dominate against the Indianapolis Colts. He is Brady's first option many times when there is pressure, and his mammoth frame aides him against smaller defenders.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Gronkowski come away with over 10 receptions and 100-plus yards. He could also have another two-touchdown game against the 0-11 Colts.

K: Sebastian Janikowski

The Oakland Raiders travel to Miami to face the Dolphins, who are much better than their 3-8 record might suggest. The Dolphins have been feisty on defense lately, and I expect them to hold the Raiders to field goal attempts much of the time.

Janikowski is still one of the best kickers in the NFL, and he will be called into action multiple times. He hit six field goals last week against the Chicago Bears, a franchise record.

The San Francisco 49ers host the St. Louis Rams this weekend at Candlestick Park. This game will be a bloodbath.

The Rams will likely be without their starting quarterback, Sam Bradford, who was out of practice today with an aggravated ankle injury. This leaves the already injury-decimated team with hardly any options on offense.

The best option they have is running back Stephen Jackson. This is bad news for the Rams, though, as the 49ers are on an incredible streak of 33 games without allowing a 100-plus yard rusher.
