NBA Free Agents 2011: Veteran Scorers Miami Heat Must Target
The Miami Heat need more bench scoring to win the NBA Finals, and there are several veteran free agents they must target before the season starts on Christmas Day.
Scoring off the bench is so important to all championship teams, and finding consistent performers who can provide a spark off the bench can really lift a team, especially in the playoffs.
Let's look at three veteran scorers the Miami Heat must target in free agency.
1. Nate Robinson
Nate Robinson and the Oklahoma City Thunder are currently working on a buyout, and if the small guard does become a free agent, the Miami Heat must look to sign him.
Robinson can win games by himself with his bench scoring, and he can really provide a huge spark to his teammates and the crowd with his instant offense off the bench.
In the 2010 NBA playoffs he helped the Boston Celtics get to the Finals, and was the difference in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals versus the Orlando Magic.
Robinson is also an underrated passer. The Heat must target him for bench scoring.
2. Kris Humphries
Kris Humphries is a young player capable of putting up a double-double on a nightly basis. He would help the Heat in two ways.
He would give them consistent scoring in the post and would help them rebound better. Humphries is a big body who can play good defense in the paint and has the ability to be a league leader in rebounding.
The Heat should add Humphries to give them another big man that can battle the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
The veteran Shane Battier is an amazing defender and is one of the more respected players in the NBA. The Miami Heat would love to have him on their team because Battier will allow LeBron James to not have to defend the other team's best player.
Battier is also one of the best three-point shooters in the league and is consistently dependable with his scoring.
Miami would be the NBA Finals favorite with Battier on their team, he would be a missing piece to many team's championship puzzles.
