David Boston Arrest: Former NFL Pro Bowl WR Facing Battery Charge

Josh MartinDec 1, 2011

Former NFL wide receiver David Boston is facing a charge of aggravated battery after punching a woman in the head in Boca Raton on Tuesday night.

According to the police report, Boston was belligerently drunk, having finished a bottle of wine and a bottle of vodka, along with pills of some sort, when he confronted the alleged victim, who was a friend of the woman that Boston had been living with for six weeks. Boston clipped the victim in the head twice, leaving behind a gash that required 10 stitches to close. It is not known at this time what caused the confrontation or what the relationship was between the two parties.

Boston fled the scene after he was warned that the two women were notifying the police. He had apparently been planning to move into a nearby hotel at some point in the near future.

Boston has been out of football for three years now. He starred during his collegiate days at Ohio State, twice earning First-Team All-Big Ten honors and garnering recognition as a First-Team All-American as a senior in 1998. The Arizona Cardinals took him with the eighth-overall pick in the 1999 NFL draft. Boston was a Pro Bowler and an All-Pro with the Cards in 2001 before moving on to play for the San Diego Chargers, the Miami Dolphins, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

He was charged with DUI back in 2007 after failing a field sobriety test. Tests from the incident later revealed the presence of GHB, a performance-enhancing substance banned by the NFL, in Boston's blood, soon after which he was released by the Bucs.
