WWE RAW Preview: Who Should Brodus Clay Fight in His RAW Debut?

The Doctor Chris MuellerDec 1, 2011

We have been promised week after week that Brodus Clay will be debuting. And each week we are left disappointed that WWE did not fulfill their promise.

There could be many reasons for the numerous delays. RAW has plenty of different feuds to tend to and perhaps they did not want Brodus lost in the mix.

Whatever the reason may be, we have been waiting long enough and it looks like this upcoming RAW will finally be the day we get our wish.

There is a lot of hype behind Brodus coming to RAW, and frankly I think WWE may have succeeded in stirring up interest by keeping us waiting for so long.

I cannot remember a rookie coming in with such little exposure beforehand who has had as many people talking about him.

We have seen Brodus on NXT, Superstars and a few token appearances on SmackDown as Del Rio's henchman, but now he is out on his own and WWE seems to be positioning him as the next monster heel.

WWE has been lacking something in the heel department ever since the release and unfortunate passing of Umaga.

Brodus could be that next dominating big guy if he plays his cards right and keeps working to improve where he needs it.

With all this talk, one has to wonder if WWE will take all this hype and then have him face a jobber in his first real match or if they will give him someone with a little more credibility to destroy.

After he tweeted he would destroy Morrison, then deleted it, we assumed it would be Clay who would be responsible for Morrison's exit storyline, and it would have been a great way to handle his debut too.

There are plenty of people on the RAW roster who could be the one used to put Clay over in his first match who would not suffer much from the loss.

My first thought was that it would be Zack Ryder. I do not know why, but I feel like despite all his recent success WWE would still be willing to use him as an enhancement talent.

This could also be how Evan Bourne is brought back to RAW. If WWE is going to put Bourne in the dog house for his suspension then having him lose to Clay could be his first bit of punishment.

Kofi Kingston is another possibility, but I do not know if he is low enough on the totem pole right now to be used to get someone else over, especially since he was not the one on his team who just got suspended.

Santino is obviously an option given his status as a comedy character. He is a solid talent who does not mind putting others over so this could be Brodus' first opponent on RAW as well.

Of course, there are other names of guys who are not getting much time like JTG and Michael McGillicutty, who are heels, but could be used to get another heel over considering fans may have forgotten about them.

There is always the possibility WWE could give Clay over someone with some of their own momentum as well.

Someone like Mason Ryan or Ted DiBiase may be the one who gets the task of facing this monster opponent.

There is also another possibility, and that is we might not get to see Brodus yet again. If WWE waits any longer, their attempt to keep stirring up interest will fail and no one will care anymore.

I, for one, am waiting to see how he does before I try and claim he is the next big thing, but I have high hopes for him based on what little I have seen of his work.

Next week's RAW will hopefully be the much anticipated debut of Brodus Clay, who do you think he should face in his first RAW match?

Not sure what to watch this Friday without a new SmackDown? Check out my list of suggestions for what to watch tomorrow night.
