NFL Week 13 Predictions: Road Warriors Ready to Make Statements

Adam WellsDec 1, 2011

Week 13 is gut-check time for a few teams in the NFL. There has to be a time when you go from being an inconsistent disappointment to showcasing your talent as you get ready for a possible playoff run or just to build momentum heading into next season.

Make no mistake, there are teams that need to make a lasting impression this week because there are a lot of questions that we need answers to.

And what better way to make a statement than taking your talents on the road and showcasing what you can do in a hostile environment. Teams can't afford to give away games anymore. This is the time where we find out exactly what they are made of.

Here are three road teams ready to dominate in Week 13.

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills (-3)

The Bills have been on a downward spiral for the last month. Their playoff hopes have all but evaporated, and they don’t seem to know how to stop the bleeding. They are a mess on both sides of the ball right now.

The Titans, meanwhile, are trending upward. They are not lighting the world on fire, but they have won two of their last three games and climbed over .500.

Things are starting to fall into place for the Titans as Chris Johnson had his best game of the year last week, and he should be able to torch another bad defense.

Oakland Raiders at Miami Dolphins (-3)

What does it say about the Raiders that they are a three-point underdog against the Dolphins? I know the boys from South Beach have been playing well, but the Raiders are a first-place team.

The odds-makers have got this one wrong because the Raiders are going to dominate this game thanks to their ability to throw the ball down the field and the Dolphins inability to defend the pass.

Normally, the Raiders win by running the ball down their opponents’ throats, but the Dolphins stop the run well, so they will rely more on Carson Palmer in this game than they normally do.

This will be Palmer’s breakout game as a member of the Silver and Black.

Raiders 31, Dolphins 20

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3)

It is mind-boggling to me that the Buccaneers are favored in this game. I know they have a better record than the Panthers, but they have done nothing to impress this year. In fact, you could make a case that they are the most disappointing team in the NFC.

The Panthers don’t have the victories yet, but they are moving in the right direction. Cam Newton has been the biggest surprise in the league. He is a shoe-in for Rookie of the Year and just keeps getting better and better with each week.

For the first time all season, the Panthers are going to have a winning streak of more than one game going.
