SEC Championship Game: Georgia's Chances to Upset LSU Rest Between Slim and None

Gabe ZaldivarNov 30, 2011

What if I told you that behind door No. 1 lay certain doom and destruction? Would you open it?

If you are the Georgia Bulldogs, you do.

On Saturday, we get a myriad of conference title games to delight us to no end. Then, there is the real poop-fest being played by No. 1 LSU and No. 14 Georgia. I really wish I could say that the Bulldogs were going to fight the good fight and shock the world.

That story is far more pleasing to our entertainment than what will really happen. The fact is, Georgia has been rewarded for beating up on awful teams as they rose into the top 25.

Meanwhile, LSU has taken on all comers and sent them packing. So what chance does Georgia have? The answer is as simple and powerful as a hit from Tyrann Mathieu. They don't.

The Bulldogs will hope that their running game can get around an LSU defense that is ranked fourth in rushing defense, 86.1 yards per game.

If that weren't bad enough, star freshman running back Isaiah Crowell will still be hobbled by an ankle injury. Head coach Mark Richt believes he will play, but it would take a 100 percent effort for him to even test this stout defense.

You then consider the talented and super-sized behemoths in the secondary that will be shutting down Georgia all game.

This is game that I fear will be far too lopsided to be entertaining. LSU showed how they feel about closing out the season last weekend.

They were bitten right off the bat by Arkansas. What was remarkable was how they reacted to the early drought in that game. They pummeled the Razorbacks into submission.

Leaving nothing to chance, Les Miles' team will make short work of Georgia on their way to bigger and better foes. Don't blink on Saturday, or you just may miss the best the Bulldogs have to give.
