NFL Picks Week 13: 4 Underdogs That Will Pull Off Upsets

James TateDec 1, 2011

Each week there are at least a couple of underdogs who end up pulling out a victory in the NFL.  Week 13 has already seen one win by an underdog with the Seattle Seahawks knocking off the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football.

Here are four more underdogs who will pull off a victory this weekend.

The Tennessee Titans

1 of 4

The Buffalo Bills have been struggling for the last month while the Tennessee Titans look to be playing better football.

The key for the Titans has been Chris Johnson.  He has been running much better lately, going over 120 yards in two of the last three games.  He gets a favorable matchup in this one because Buffalo is 21st in the league against the run.

Look for CJ to run for 120 yards and the Titans to get a win.

The Oakland Raiders

2 of 4

The Raiders are a three-point underdog at the Dolphins on Sunday.  The Dolphins have been playing better in the last few weeks, but the Raiders are a legitimately good football team.  They are on their way to a 10-win season and an AFC West title.

Oakland will need a good effort from Carson Palmer in this one because Miami is really good against the run.  They are only giving up 97.5 yards per game on the ground.

Palmer has played pretty well the last couple of weeks.  He has thrown for 1,096 yards over the last four games and will lead the Raiders to a victory in this one.

The Cincinnati Bengals

3 of 4

The Cincinnati Bengals are a seven-point dog on the road against the Steelers this weekend.  There are not any numbers that heavily favor the Bengals here.  This pick is just a hunch.

The Bengals have their backs against the wall.  A loss in this one would put their playoff hopes on life support.  Teams normally play better with their backs against the wall, and Andy Dalton will lead Cincinnati to a victory in this one.

Another thing that favors the Bengals in this one is the fact that Ben Roethlisberger tweaked his thumb in practice again this week.

The Denver Broncos

4 of 4

The Broncos are a one-point underdog at Minnesota on Sunday.  It looks like Adrian Peterson will not be ready to play in this game.  That is going to pose problems for the Vikings offense that is facing a very good Denver defense.

You also have to consider the Tim Tebow factor.  He is running an offense that is difficult to defend without a good amount of time to prepare, and Tebow does not make mistakes in the fourth quarter.  Look for him to lead the Broncos to a win in this one.
