You’d figure that with this being a special, live episode that WWE would confirm more. Either way, there will obviously be more happening tonight.
Let’s get into what we know for sure will be going down.
Mick Foley Returns to Host SmackDown
The hardcore legend Mick Foley had been away from WWE for four years. During that time he achieved some success in TNA Wrestling.
WWE fans could care less about his time in TNA, though. They just wanted to see Foley return to WWE.
He did that two weeks ago when he returned on the special “Rocked” episode of Monday Night Raw before Survivor Series.
His big return to WWE was semi-memorable when he presented a new edition of “This is Your Life.” This time around he decided to embarrass John Cena.
The segment started out as funny but as it continued it was dragging. It started to become boring and people just wanted it to end.
Then the Rock’s music hit and he made his way to the ring. He didn’t say a word. He just entered the ring and delivered a Rock Bottom to the hardcore legend.
He disappeared for a bit but will now be making his return to SmackDown tonight as guest host.
Last night on Raw Foley gave us a little Christmas rhyme substituting Christmas with SmackDown related events. He promised that he had something planned.
What will Mick Foley do as host? What does he have planned? We’ll just have to wait and see!
Mark Henry vs. Daniel Bryan: Steel Cage Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
For weeks World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry has been screwing with Money in the Bank winner Daniel Bryan.
There have been many times it seemed like Bryan would cash in his briefcase on the World’s Slowest Champion as revenge, but he never pulled the trigger.
At Survivor Series Big Show injured Henry’s ankle and left him on a crutch and not medically cleared to wrestle. Big Show came out during a Mark Henry promo last week and Henry eventually called him the world’s largest loser.
That resulted in a Weapon of Mass Destruction punch and Henry was down and out.
At this point I had given up on Daniel Bryan cashing in, but his music hit and he cashed in to win the World Heavyweight Championship!
During his celebration, though, general manager Teddy Long took the title away from him saying that Mark Henry wasn’t medically cleared to compete.
The good news was that Long gave Bryan back the briefcase and placed him in a fatal-four way match to determine the No. 1 contender for the title.
Daniel Bryan bested Randy Orton, Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes to win the match and now he must face the champion inside a steel cage.
Who will walk out of the steel structure as World Heavyweight Champion and take on the Big Show at TLC?
Despite WWE not confirming much for the show, this should be a good night to be a SmackDown fan.
Tune in tonight to see what happens!
