WWE Smackdown Results: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Justin WatryNov 25, 2011

WWE Smackdown was a mixed bag tonight. I really enjoyed the middle of the show, but I have many issues with the beginning of the show. Also, I was not a fan of the main event result.

The Good

Mark Henry is the best man on WWE TV today. His feud with The Big Show has been great, and I look forward to their conclusion next month. Of course, the winner at WWE TLC is in no doubt, but that does not mean the match can't still entertain. He is NEVER, ever losing his World title, and it is time the WWE Universe starts to recognize his greatness.

Hunico beat Justin Gabriel in a good match. Justin is on the back burner right now, so I am fine with the result. Good job to both men!

Aksana and Teddy Long had another great backstage segment. It was brief, but they are both so funny.

Beth Phoenix and Natalya defeated AJ and Kaitlyn, and it was a nice short match. I like Alicia Fox on commentary. Hopefully, she gets a title shot soon. She is a great talent in WWE!

Zack Ryder and Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger was an excellent tag team match. They get the spotlight this week. Everybody worked hard, Vickie looked great and the crowd was into the action.

Special shout out to Mick Foley on being the guest host for next week's live Smackdown on Tuesday night! I loved this move, and it should be fun to watch next week.

The Bad

Ted DiBiase beat Heath Slater, and I still do not care about either man. Sorry, but his "posse" is not going to convince me to invest into his character. His future is bright but not his short-term outlook.

Matt Strike made a brief appearance backstage, and I just laughed. He did nothing for me as a commentator, and he just looks awkward doing interviews. Sorry, just my opinion!

The Ugly

The opening segment was terrible. Mark Henry did an amazing job on the microphone, but everything that followed his interaction with Show was beyond ridiculous.

I mentioned it weeks ago. I mentioned it last week. I mentioned it earlier this week, and I will repeat it again right now.

Daniel Bryan needs to do one of two things:

1. Turn heel

2. Wait until WrestleMania 28 to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Right now, he is mixing them both. He no longer looks honorable. He is no longer a clear cut baby face. He is no longer a gentleman, looking to be fair and square. He is none of the things we have learned about his character the past month.

His character is now a coward. He acted like a cheater, a hypocrite, somebody looking to cut corners, a man who has no pride in his wrestling abilities. Nope, he cashed in on a weakened champion, just like he vowed not to do.

The main event was even worse. He beats Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton to earn a World title match against Mark Henry next Tuesday in a steel cage.

Great! Mark Henry will squash him like a bug, but then what? More teases to cash in? More cowardly sneak attacks? Another vow to wait until WrestleMania 28 again? His word is worthless now. He lied about his briefcase and isn't even World Champion. He has nothing to show for betraying his fans and his word...

Again, Daniel Bryan needs to turn heel or cash in at WrestleMania. He can't play both sides and come out of this looking good. Right now, he looks very bad. Michael Cole is actually speaking the truth about him right now, and it is hard to deny it.

The worst part about the whole situation was that the four-way main event was a great match. Sadly, the entire "booking" around it was so borderline insane; I can't praise the final 20 minutes of this program. I just can't.
