WWE: Can R-Truth Be as Successful as a Babyface When He Returns?

Everyone who saw this week's Raw knows that Awesome Truth is no more. This comes after the revelation that R-Truth failed a wellness policy test and received a 30-day suspension.

Miz and Truth were on a roll with their team and had just participated in the main event for Survivor Series the night before all this happened.

With Miz attacking R-Truth to effectively break up their team many people are expecting Truth to return as a babyface to feud with his former teammate.

I am curious as to whether R-Truth can carry his momentum he picked up as a heel into a babyface character.

Part of what made Truth so successful as a heel was his insane ramblings and conspiracy theories, which may not fit in as well with a babyface persona.

Truth was a face for his entire WWE run before turning heel by brutally attacking John Morrison following a match on SmackDown.

Ever since then, Truth and his little Jimmy conspiracies have made him one of the more engaging characters on WWE TV.

When he came to the ring in a confederate officer's uniform I busted a gut, his humor is what carried him through his crazy gimmick before he and Miz teamed up.

Truth was so successful with his heel persona that it allowed him to receive a WWE title shot on a pay-per-view and main event Survivor Series against Cena and the Rock.

Now with all the talk of Truth returning as a face, I have to wonder if his rise to the top is going to start going in reverse.

His happy-go-lucky rapper gimmick is clearly not going to take him anywhere in WWE which is why I think he would be best suited to remain as a heel when he returns.

WWE is in need of some top-level babyfaces these days, and that's one reason why Truth may return as a good guy, but I think it would be in his best interest to keep with his current direction.

This gimmick he has is unique and fits him well. I cannot think of a bad promo Truth has delivered since turning heel, which tells me he's better suited for the role.

I hope Truth comes back as a heel and continues with his Little Jimmy rants for a little while before trying to make the jump to a being a face again.

When heels turn into a face overnight, it tends to work less effectively than the way they did things with Orton by having him slowly turn face.

Truth has a long career ahead of him as long as he does not get any more wellness policy violations, and he keeps improving.
