NFL Week 12 Picks: Pittsburgh Steelers, 4 Other Teams Guaranteed to Win

Bleacher ReportNov 23, 2011

For the first time in a long while, it appears that there will actually be three good games on Thanksgiving day.

By the time we get to Sunday, however, there are a few games ripe for blowouts. Some teams just can't hang with their opponent on a particular week, and in Week 12, there are five such matchups.

By my count, we'll have three in the early games, one late game and the Sunday-nighter as no-contest type games.

It's Week 12, so by this point of the season, these teams are what we think they are and we can tell which are ready to roll on Sunday.

Houston Texans Defeat Jacksonville Jaguars

1 of 5

Yes, the Houston Texans will be without quarterback Matt Schaub this weekend, but the reality is that they have become a much more run-oriented offense.

With the dynamic duo of Arian Foster and Ben Tate, the Texans have been punishing teams with their ground attack, and that will continue this week against a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that just gave up over 100 yards to the immortal Chris Ogbonnaya.

Houston will pound the ball and control the clock on offense, Wade Phillips' defense will force Blaine Gabbert into a couple of turnovers and the Texans will take care of the Jaguars with relative ease.

New York Jets Defeat Buffalo Bills

2 of 5

After a red hot start, the Buffalo Bills have really been stumbling the past few weeks, and it's coincided with a downturn in the play of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The former Ivy Leaguer has seven interceptions in his last three games, and if he throws at Darelle Revis at all on Sunday, that total may go up yet again.

The Jets aren't faring too well themselves lately, but they'll be able to right the ship against a Buffalo team that is sinking fast as long as Mark Sanchez doesn't try to give the game away.

The Bills' defense is one of the best in the league at forcing turnovers, and if Sanchez has one of those games, Buffalo can pull out a sneaky victory.

Atlanta Falcons Defeat Minnesota Vikings

3 of 5

The Minnesota Vikings may have indeed found their quarterback of the future in rookie Christian Ponder, but this year they're still struggling.

And without Adrian Peterson, you can expect them to struggle even more on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. In what was already a tough matchup to begin with, it's possible and maybe even likely that Minnesota will be missing its best and most explosive offensive player.

It will be up to Toby Gerhart, Percy Harvin, Michael Jenkins and Visanthe Shiancoe to keep the offense moving up and down the field, but Atlanta's defense will be up to the task.

Michael Turner will wear down the Vikes' offensive line, and Matt Ryan should be able to work the ball down the field on play-action passes.

San Diego Chargers Defeat Denver Broncos

4 of 5

This is the week that Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers get it turned around.

The Tim Tebow experience is sweeping the nation, but the Broncos still struggle to move the ball most of the game with the young lefty at the quarterback position.

Denver's defense has been really impressive over the last few weeks, especially getting to the quarterback, but San Diego has enough weapons to spread them out and make them pay for coming on the blitz.

It all depends on how Rivers plays. He has 15 turnovers over his past six games, and he'll obviously need to cut that number down to win.

In a division game, with their season slowly slipping away, the Chargers will take care of business.

Pittsburgh Steelers Defeat Kansas City Chiefs

5 of 5

Remember when we were just three weeks into the season and questions abounded about whether the Steelers were done?

It seems so long ago now.

Ben Roethlisberger is on a roll, having found a comfortable new rhythm spreading the ball around to Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown, Heath Miller and the rest of Pittsburgh's many offensive weapons.

Kansas City has looked better of late, but they simply don't have the firepower to go toe-to-toe with the Steelers on Sunday.

Pittsburgh will jump out to an early lead, and then James Harrison, Lamar Woodley, Troy Polamalu and company will cause some serious havoc on defense as the Steelers roll to an easy win.
