Rock and WWE: Why the Rock's Return to the Ring Hasn't Been a Good Thing

Kenneth KluskaNov 22, 2011

Count me as one who just hasn't been interested in the recent antics of The Rock in the WWE.

I was a big Rock fan in the late '90s. I was a Nation of Domination fan, rather than Degeneration-X. I owned some of his t-shirts and repeatedly used his catch-phrases in everyday life.

Times have changed. I got older, and The Rock doesn't spark that type of interest in me anymore.

I am not a John Cena fan, either, but he is right. We see The Rock so rarely, when without the WWE, he probably never would have become the movie star that he is now.

I'm expecting to see many promos involving The Rock, up until his match against John Cena at Wrestlemania. I'm just not interested in those promos unless he is actually in the building, and I don't expect him to be too often.

To me, his match at Survivor Series with John Cena against The Miz and R-Truth was nothing noteworthy. I heard Michael Cole use the word "shocking" multiple times on Raw last night when describing The Rock Bottom on John Cena at Survivor Series.

Shocking? To me, it couldn't have been any more predictable.

The only good that could came out of The Rock coming back is if it forces John Cena to turn into a heel. His character has gotten very bland to me, and a change could definitely help out his character.

After the "historic" match at Wrestlemania, when will we see The Rock in the ring again? Another seven years from now?

It's hard to take The Rock seriously right now, when everybody knows that when Wrestlemania is over, he will be gone again, leaving people only to guess when he will enter a WWE ring again.
