WWE Survivor Series 2011: Predicting Wade Barrett's Future Through WrestleMania

Imaan JalaliNov 21, 2011

At the 25th annual Survivor Series, Wade Barrett (and Cody Rhodes) stood tall and mighty after chopping down the babyface squad led by Randy Orton.

Years from now, the only traditional elimination match of the 2011 Survivor Series will be remembered for highlighting the former Nexus leader after a disappointing year on SmackDown.

Once Barrett applied the "Wasteland" to "The Viper," the New York City attendees knew they were in for the resurgence of Wade Barrett.

As the end of 2011 approaches, the 6'5" Englishman looks to have a high-profile spot on the card through WrestleMania 28 and beyond.

Let's preview what, hypothetically, may lie in store for Barrett in the next five to six months.

Wade Barrett Will Defeat Sheamus at TLC 2011

1 of 5

Although Barrett led his battalion of men over Team Orton—which included Sheamus—he still has unfinished business with "The Celtic Warrior," who was disqualified from the elimination bout at Survivor Series 2011.

A feud seems to be brewing between Barrett and Sheamus, too, if the November 18th edition of SmackDown—which saw the two get into a violent scuffle—is any indication.

The Englishman will seek retribution against the Irishman, who rammed a crutch into the former's abdomen.

At TLC 2011, one can expect the two to have a war in the ring, perhaps with a chairs or tables stipulation.

Barrett, though, will prevail after a back-and-forth affair, en route to a prosperous 2012.

Wade Barrett Will Win the 2012 Royal Rumble Match

2 of 5

The sudden reemergence of faith in Wade Barrett will be so abundant that it will lead to him walking out of St. Louis as the 2012 Royal Rumble winner.

Before going into the 40-man, over-the-top battle royal, viewers will identify the Englishman as one of a handful of possible candidates to win the match.

That is, his triumph at the 25th anniversary of the Royal Rumble will not be too much of a surprise because Barrett will have already regained the necessary credibility (which has eluded him in the last 12 months).

The heavy-accented performer will enter at No. 15 and finally throw out Triple H to claim his prize in the main event of WrestleMania 28.

After being tight-lipped about it for a few weeks, Barrett will ultimately choose to pursue CM Punk and the WWE title.

Barrett Will Vanquish Mark Henry To Become the New World Heavyweight Champion

3 of 5

If Wade Barrett is not one of the 40 participants in the Royal Rumble match, he'll be vying for Mark Henry's world heavyweight title at the event.

How will it come about?

Before the match transpires at the Royal Rumble, Mark Henry will turn face.

As the 2011 Survivor Series showed, Henry is already starting to be cheered for his hard work and improvement in the ring.

Thus, after a grueling tables match between him and The Big Show at TLC 2011, "The World's Strongest Man" will have earned enough of the fans' respect to fight for the power of good, as opposed to evil.

With members of the WWE Universe firmly behind Henry's dominance, Barrett will step up to the plate to calmly challenge the indomitable, newly-minted fan favorite.

After a world title defense with Henry mostly in control, Barrett will surprise his opponent with a roll-up to become the new world heavyweight champion.

Barrett Will Lose the Title Before Wrestling The Undertaker at WrestleMania 28

4 of 5

With no adversary decided for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 28, Barrett may just be what "The Dead Man" ordered.

Moreover, "The Phenom" probably hasn't forgotten what the former leader of the Nexus did to him at Bragging Rights 2010.

Unlike his peers, Barrett is one of only a few who has the disposition and microphone flair to persuade fans into thinking he has a legitimate shot at dashing The Undertaker's prestigious undefeated streak.

Assuming Barrett becomes the world heavyweight champion at the 2011 Royal Rumble, the Englishman will lose his title in the Elimination Chamber after being distracted by the ominous sound of gongs going off.

It will mark the beginning of a myriad of mind games that will be played against Wade Barrett.

Barrett Will Defend the Title Against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 28

5 of 5

If Wade Barrett doesn't pose a threat to The Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania, expect Daniel Bryan to cash in on the world heavyweight champion for a shot at glory in Miami.

Their pairing would be a great dynamic from both an in-ring and storyline standpoint.

At SummerSlam 2011, the two had a superb match that was chock-full of chemistry and fluid action.

On the microphone, Bryan can personify the underdog as well as anyone and Barrett is the quintessence of the classic, imposing villain.

After many attempts to bully the plucky Money in the Bank winner, Barrett finally gets his comeuppance at WrestleMania 28.

Consequently, Bryan becomes a full-fledged star and Barrett never leaves the main-event scene, again.
