WWE Survivor Series 2011: Barrett Barrage Deadened by Disappointing Match
There was so much anticipation for Team Orton vs. Team Barrett.
And while "The Barrett Barrage" continued on Sunday night in the WWE Survivor Series, it was deadened by the fact that the tag team match itself was poorly executed and lackluster.
It started slow, and got worse when Sheamus was disqualified for not breaking at the ref's count.

It continued when Swagger didn't show much swagger at all, when Sheamus hit him with the Brogue Kick on his way out of the ring, allowing for an easy pin for Randy Orton.
It got more interesting when Orton used his patented RKO and pinned Hunico.
Then it ended when Wade Barrett ran in rather easily and hit Wasteland for the clear win, knocking Orton out of the event.
The end result was what most people wanted to see, Barrett continuing his dominant run and quickly becoming a star before our eyes.
But the match itself detracted from the end result, and it made what was supposed to be a monumental moment seem rather unimpressive.
The WWE did get it right handing the victory to Barrett, who has all the tools to become a WWE star and champion, but it could have done so much more convincingly, and the performances of Sheamus and Swagger were just plain awful.
I guess I was expecting more, something historic, because, after all, this was supposed to be a historic moment, marking the fall of Orton and the rise of Barrett.
But it didn't live up to the hype, and the WWE missed a big opportunity to do something special.
Instead, we must wait for the next time Barrett enters the ring and gives us a show by himself.
