Jets vs. Broncos: 5 Adjustments New York Must Make in the 2nd Half

Aliko CarterNov 17, 2011

The Jets are well-known for touting their Super Bowl goals.

Right now, they sit at 5-4. They're playing on a short week, and have come to face the raucous fans and thin air at Mile High. If they can take down Tim Tebow and the surging Broncos, they will be that much closer to a Wild Card playoff berth.

Here are five adjustments the Jets must make to take down the Broncos on the road in the second half:

1. Pressure Tebow.

Who would have thought Tim Tebow could throw the ball? He completed all his passes on the first drive of the game before Gang Green was able to stop them on fourth down.

The Jets are going to have to make Tebow uncomfortable and get him running to push his passing accuracy down to its previously expected (low) level.

2. Protect Mark Sanchez.

Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil comprise one of the most potent defensive duos in the entire league. On the first drive, they forced their way through the Jets' offensive line to sack Sanchez on 3rd-and-4.

If the Jets are going to win, Sanchez must never be reached by a defensive player on third down.

3. Passing Accuracy.

Aside from the pressure from VonDoom, Sanchez has looked somewhat off tonight. He's been picked off and had a few other scares in which his passes came dangerously close to falling into Denver's hands. He's got to channel his "Sanchize" persona to beat this Broncos defense.

4. Where's Plaxico?

This may have more to do with the above key than anything else, but Burress has also not been targeted very often, even when the Jets are in the red zone.

He may not be having the best season of his career, but Burress is always a completion threat. The Jets should find him in the second half.

5. Rushing Game.

Shonn Greene and Joe McKnight need more carries, and need to do more with them. The front four needs to open up holes for them to bust through.

Right now, neither the Jets' passing or rushing game looks well-oiled.
