NFL Week 11 Predictions: Projecting Defenses That Will Struggle Most

Chris TrapassoNov 17, 2011

Playing defense has not been fun for most teams this season.

They can thank spread offenses, laser-like accuracy from quarterbacks and dynamic running back duos for their continual headaches.

In Week 11, these three defenses will have the roughest outings.

Philadelphia Eagles

Forget about the struggles of the Eagles' offense and the fact that Michael Vick won't be in the lineup this week.

The defense has been just as bad and was embarrassed in the second half last week against John Skelton of all people.

No offense, John.

Eli Manning, despite coming up short last week against the 49ers, is having a career season. The Giants signal-caller has thrown 17 touchdowns, eight interceptions and has a 97.0 quarterback rating. What's more, his receivers have been fantastic all year.

New York won't run the football often, but their receiving corps and tight end Jake Ballard will have a huge afternoon in MetLife Stadium.

The Eagles at 3-7.

Yes, a distinct possibility.

Carolina Panthers

The Detroit Lions offense was putrid against the Bears last week in Chicago. Matthew Stafford threw the ball 63 times and was intercepted on four occasions.

After making the necessary tweaks, Detroit will get back on track at home against a Carolina defense that has been victimized for much of the season.

Their 28th-ranked rush defense could result in the Lions finally establishing their running game and, honestly, who's stopping Calvin Johnson in that secondary?

Big bounce-back game for Detroit at home.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans don't have a bad defense, but they're up against one of the more balanced offenses in the NFC. Matt Ryan has improved from his slow start to the season and Michael Turner is extremely reliable.

Inside the Georgia Dome, they're a tough offense to slow down and they have three legitimate receiving options in Tony Gonzalez, Roddy White and Julio Jones.

Don't sleep on Harry Douglas, either, who caught eight passes for 135 yards last week against the Saints.

Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Let's see. These two squads are facing Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers on the road. Yikes.
