WWE Survivor Series 2011: Rock Will Fail to Bring Back Fans

Wes ODonnellNov 17, 2011

Finally, The Rock has come back to Survivor Series...

And as exciting as this is, it will fail to keep people interested.

It has been a number of years since The Rock last appeared at Survivor Series. He basically left the business in 2004 after WrestleMania XX and has made sporadic appearances throughout the years until his return this year at WrestleMania XXVII as the host.

Now he's back in the ring and is teaming up with another wrestling star with acting chops in John Cena.

These two were scheduled to fight each other at WrestleMania XXVIII back in April, but they will now team up to take on Miz and R-Truth in a tag-team match at Survivor Series.

So what we see is what we get with The Rock.

He's an aging star that will bring back excitement and fire for the main events he appears in. He's one of the most prolific performers in WWF/WWE history.

He's a wizard on the microphone and he's got one of the largest fanbases ever.

Unfortunately, that audience won't stay excited for long.

What the WWE fails to realize is that they don't need a quick fix in the form of The Rock for one or two nights; they need a young, stable superstar to groom and help grow.

This is becoming a problem for the WWE.

They continue to lean on the old fan favorites when they should be focusing on bringing more stability to the ring.

The Rock will be a fun and exciting thing to talk about and see for one event, but his staying power is nothing more than a hazy one-night stand.
