WWE Survivor Series 2011: Predicting Every Match on the Card

Ricky FrechNov 17, 2011

The WWE has put together a solid-looking card for their upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view. Considering that they still have Friday's Smackdown show left to air, we might see a few more matches added, but as it stands, this is a six-match lineup I can get behind.

You have a marquee main event with John Cena and the Rock teaming up against The Miz and R-Truth.

Four different championship belts are also being defended, and most of those matches look interesting, to say the least.

Finally, there's the 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series match between Team Orton and Team Barrett.

Some people aren't very high on this one, but it has a chance to go down as a really good Survivor Series match.

With all of these great matches set to be played out, it's tough to decide just who's going to win them all. That said, I'm going to try my hand at doing just that.

Who's going to come out on top at Survivor Series? Read on to find out.

United States Championship: Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. John Morrison

1 of 6

Much to the dismay of the Internet's champion, Zack Ryder, John Morrison was chosen to take on Dolph Ziggler for the United States Championship at the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Morrison was on a long losing streak before upsetting Ziggler recently and could be seeing himself getting his second big push with the company.

He has the athletic ability to become a great Superstar with the WWE, but his mic skills are still a little lacking for a true champion.

Ziggler, on the other hand, is enjoying a solid run with the US Championship but could be looking to move into the WWE Championship picture.

He's been doing a great job in helping young guys like Zack Ryder get over, and he might be on his way to the main event.

John Morrison seems to have much more to gain from a victory here, and it could set up an interesting feud between him and Ryder. In that scenario, Ryder would become jealous that Morrison got the title shot and make a heel turn, which would set up a match with them down the line.

WINNER: John Morrison

Diva's Championship: Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Eve

2 of 6

This is the only match on the card that doesn't have me even a little bit excited.

The Diva's division has never really been my favorite, but currently, it's really in the dumps and doesn't have many actual wrestlers to put on TV.

Beth Phoenix is one of the few real wrestlers in the division, but she hasn't looked very strong lately. However, she did just beat Eve at Vengeance last month.

The Diva's title doesn't really matter much to the WWE, and because of their recent promotion of Kelly Kelly and her Maxim shoot, I have a feeling they'll give Eve the strap and try to make an angle up involving those two.

 WINNER: Eve

Team Orton vs. Team Barrett

3 of 6

Before we begin, let's do a quick rundown of the two teams.

Team Orton: Randy Orton, Sheamus, Mason Ryan, Kofi Kingston, Sin Cara.

Team Barrett: Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Hunico.

This match is very exciting to me because there are so many ways the WWE could go with this one. They could give Sheamus a victory over someone to help elevate him to the title picture. Rhodes could pin Orton to help continue their feud. The possibilities are endless.

One thing is almost certain: Someone is going to make a heel/face turn. The Survivor Series is one of the best chances for a Superstar to make the turn because of how many people are in the match.

The most likely person to turn looks to be Mason Ryan. Look for it to come down to Orton, Sheamus and Ryan vs. Barrett and Rhodes. At that point, Ryan will make his turn, take out Orton and Sheamus and give Team Barrett a win, as Ryan transforms into the monster heel he is.

WINNER: Team Barrett

World Heavyweight Championship: Mark Henry (c) vs. Big Show

4 of 6

Personally, I think this feud has almost run its course. It was awesome to see these two destroy the ring at Vengeance, but seeing two huge oafs beat each other up can only be interesting for so long.

Both of these guys are in the twilight of their careers, and it's unlikely that either would hold the belt for very long if they won. Big Show especially doesn't need a belt to continue to stay popular with the fans.

This feud seems to be a placeholder for the eventual match that involves Randy Orton winning the strap. I'd like to see Survivor Series be the end of this one, but it might continue into TLC. That would let Orton win the belt at the Royal Rumble and move into a program with Daniel Bryan that culminates at WrestleMania.

Since Henry has already beat Orton twice, it makes sense for him to be the one Orton challenges at the Rumble. For that reason alone, I see the World's Strongest Man picking up the victory.

WINNER: Mark Henry

WWE Championship: Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. CM Punk

5 of 6

This match is probably the hardest on the card to predict. CM Punk has become a huge draw over the course of this year and the WWE might put the belt on him just to try and sell more merchandise.

Alberto Del Rio, on the other hand, has become a great heel over the last couple of months and is doing some great work for the company.

That said, I just don't see this one being the end of this feud. These two are just too good together to not have this one continue into TLC, and maybe even the Royal Rumble.

In fact, it would be interesting to see Del Rio retain the championship going into 'Mania and have Punk win the Rumble.

That would give Punk some great material about it being "his destiny" to defeat Del Rio at 'Mania, playing off of Del Rio's program from last year.

Punk is great on the mic and could really run with something like that, giving the WWE a solid championship match to place alongside the Cena vs. Rock match.

WINNER: Alberto Del Rio

John Cena and The Rock vs. The Miz and R-Truth

6 of 6

This is the match that everyone's paying to see. The Rock and John Cena teaming up to take on The Miz and R-Truth.

Who would've thought that Rock would've teamed up with Cena at any point this year, especially for a pay-per-view?

This one has a chance to be a series of swerves. Many fans are hoping for a Cena heel turn, but I just can't see that ever happening.

The more likely swerve is The Rock hits Cena with the Rock Bottom and walks out, giving The Miz and R-Truth a victory.

Just like everyone else, I'm hoping the WWE can surprise me. However, I doubt we see anything too crazy happening.

This match has all the signs of the WWE having a chance to really impress fans, but then disappoint us with a lackluster finish.

WINNER: The Miz and R-Truth (due to John Cena getting Rock Bottomed)
