Jets vs. Broncos: Stat Predictions for Tim Tebow, Mark Sanchez and Biggest Stars

Zach KruseNov 17, 2011

In anticipation of Thursday night's clash between the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, let's take a look at some of the projected stats for the biggest stars on each side, including that Tebow guy:

QB Tim Tebow, Broncos (10-of-22 passing for 89 yards, 1 INT; 10 rushes for 53)

He'll throw and complete more than he did last week, but this isn't the Chiefs defense. The Jets can play on that side of the ball. Tebow could be in for a tough game Thursday night.

QB Mark Sanchez, Jets (17-of-28 passing for 199 yards, 1 TD)

After a wild performance against the Patriots four nights ago, Rex Ryan and the Jets offense might put the handcuffs on Sanchez a bit.

RB Lance Ball, Broncos (19 rushes for 59 yards)

The Broncos still want to run it more than throw, so Ball will get carries. A lot of his success depends on how well the Jets learned Denver's zone-option play in those four days of prep.

RB Willis McGahee, Broncos (5 rushes for 25 yards)

His hamstring injury will limit him to just spot duty, but McGahee should see the field on Thursday night.

RB Shonn Greene, Jets (20 rushes for 98 yards, 1 TD)

The Jets shouldn't get fancy tonight: feed the ball to Greene and let Sanchez use the run to set up play-action. Greene could have a big night.

WR Eric Decker, Broncos (1 catch for 9 yards)

If Decker has Darrelle Revis draped over him on Thursday night, then one catch might be pushing it.

WR Santonio Holmes, Jets (4 catches for 39 yards)

I like what the Jets can potentially do with Holmes out of play action, but Champ Bailey is quietly putting together another Pro Bowl season.

WR Plaxico Burress, Jets (3 catches for 66 yards, 1 TD)

Here's the matchup the Jets need to exploit. Denver simply doesn't have a cornerback that can match Burress's size and physicality. He'll catch another red-zone score.

TE Dustin Keller, Jets (5 catches for 77 yards)

Keller should be a bigger part of every Jets' game plan. What more could a struggling quarterback want than an athletic, pass-catching tight end?
