NFL Week 11 Picks: Favored Locks To Win and Cover

Michael DixonNov 16, 2011

One of the things that makes the NFL fun to write about is that nothing is predictable. Sure, we get our picks right most of the time, but we're also left scratching our heads from time to time.

Well, these are games that won't leave us scratching our heads. No, these teams are all favored and are in great position to not only win, but cover their spreads.

I'm sure we'll be scratching our heads at some point on Sunday, but these games won't make us do it.

Chicago Bears (-4) vs. San Diego Chargers

The Packers and Colts don't meet this year. So, it's hard to imagine a game on the NFL game on the schedule this season between two teams headed in more different directions.

The Chargers' flaws play right into the hands of the Chicago strengths. On the road, that's a recipe for a blowout.

My guess is that Philip Rivers will throw for enough yards to keep a blowout from happening, but I am not expecting much doubt at the end of this one.

Look for Matt Forte to have another strong game. The Chicago defense will force turnovers and dominate the action again. While I don't see the Bears catching the Packers, they will cruise to a wild-card berth this year.

Bears 27, Chargers 17

I'm hesitant to give the label of "lock" to a team whose offense still leaves a little to be desired when the spread is 10 points, but I'm going with it.

The 49ers defense is smothering. It's simply one of the best units in the game. I don't see the Cardinals scoring more than about 10 points. Actually, I am not even predicting that.

San Francisco's biggest tests this season have been against their better opponents. When they have been matched up with weaker teams, they haven't really been tested. That will continue this Sunday.

49ers 27, Cardinals 3

Okay, I know that a one-point spread isn't exactly massive. If they win, they will almost certainly cover. But how is this at one point?

I know that the Vikings have talented players on board, but they are 2-7. The Raiders are 5-4 and coming off of a big win. They have also played their best football away from Oakland this year. Only one of those losses came on the road.

I don't get how we're only at one point here, although I know the Raiders have been inconsistent this year. Look for them to win this one with ease, even if Adrian Peterson has a big day.

Raiders 24, Vikings 13
