WWE News: Reported Plan for Kane's Return to WWE Television

Drake OzNov 11, 2011

Oh, Kane, where art thou?

Mark Henry put the Big Red Monster on the shelf back in July with a storyline leg injury. The timetable for his return was set at roughly three months.

However, August, September and October have since come and gone, and there’s still no sign of Kane. So, when can we expect to see him back in a WWE ring?

From the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleNewz.com):

"

Current plans have Kane returning at the Royal Rumble but he could be brought back earlier.

"

I have no problem with Kane and have been a supporter of him throughout most of his career, but I’m really just not all that excited about his upcoming return.

If used correctly, he’s fine. By that, I mean if he's used as someone to help get up-and-coming stars over. He has, after all, largely been a flop in high-profile roles in recent years.

Just see his feud with Rey Mysterio on Raw from a few years ago and his feud with Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship at the end of 2010. You’ll see what I’m talking about.

Kane should not be main eventing at this point. Instead, he should be used as an upper midcarder on the Smackdown brand who can help elevate the likes of Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett.

However, I’m not holding out hope that this is what's going to happen.

If Kane returns at the Royal Rumble as is being reported, we know that he’s going to run through his competitors like they’re nothing. Kane has the second-most Rumble eliminations of all time (37), the most eliminations in one Rumble (11) and has made it to the final six competitors more times (7) than any wrestler in history.

He’ll probably return early on in the Rumble, squash anyone in his path and then get a decent push on Smackdown afterwards.

I’m not really looking forward to that.
