NFL Week 10 Picks: Road Favorites That Are Guaranteed To Win This Weekend

Mike ChiariNov 10, 2011

As important as home-field advantage can be in the NFL, the better team simply comes out on top more often than not. In Week 10, the better team just so happens to be the visitor in many cases, and because of that there are quite a few road favorites.

While not every road favorite is going to win, many stand an excellent chance. It is really difficult to call any win automatic in a league with as much parity as the NFL, but here are three road favorites that are as close to guarantees as possible.

Pittsburgh Steelers

When the Pittsburgh Steelers head to Cincinnati to face the Bengals on the Sunday as three-point favorites, all signs would seemingly point to a Cincinnati win. After all, the Steelers are coming off a loss to the Baltimore Ravens and the Bengals are on an absolute roll as they lead the AFC with a 6-2 record.

Not everyone is sold on the Bengals, though, and there is reason to believe that they are an aberration. For one, their schedule has been extremely easy to this point. The Bengals haven't really had to play any teams of the Steelers' caliber, so this will really be their first true test to see how they measure up in the conference.

The Bengals are like a lite version of the Steelers in some ways due to their tough defense and mistake-free offense, but the original is almost always better. The difference in this game will come down to offense, and with the way Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been throwing the ball lately, I can't see Pittsburgh losing.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Picking the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road normally wouldn't be advisable, but picking anyone over the Indianapolis Colts most certainly is. The Jags are penciled in as three-point favorites on Sunday against the beleaguered Colts, who are the only team yet to win a game this year.

Neither team is particularly enthralling, but Jacksonville should be good enough to take down Indianapolis. The Colts' biggest issue may be run defense, and that is a terrible problem to have against the Jaguars as they feature one of the league's best running backs in Maurice Jones-Drew.

Quarterback Blaine Gabbert hasn't been anything special for the Jags thus far, but he'll need only to protect the ball against the Colts. Indy's offense has been in shambles without quarterback Peyton Manning and Jacksonville's defense has performed well, so the Jaguars should be in line to beat the Colts fairly comfortably.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are a tough team to figure out. Sometimes they look absolutely fantastic against good teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers. Houston Texans and New York Jets, but other times they look awful against bottom feeders like the Jacksonville Jaguars and Arizona Cardinals.

Baltimore will have to avoid playing down to its competition this week as it enters its game against the Seattle Seahawks as a seven-point favorite. Seattle is an incredibly bland team, but is sometimes able to find a way to pull out games at home. Because of that, the Ravens will have to be very wary.

Luckily for the Ravens, Seattle has few weapons offensively, meaning Baltimore's elite defense should have little issue getting the job done. Everything will likely fall on the shoulders of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco. He is wildly inconsistent, but when he plays well as he did against the Steelers last week, the Ravens usually win. I expect a big game out of Flacco against the Seahawks.
