Week 10 Fantasy Football Rankings: Looking at the Top RBs

Chris TrapassoNov 10, 2011

What makes a guy a top fantasy running back?

He's got to have talent, right?

A solid offensive line helps.

His matchup is equally important, too.

Here are Week 10's best running back options.

Matt Forte

Against the Eagles, Forte fumbled for the first time since Week 7 of last season, but still managed to rack up 133 yards on 24 carries.

He added three catches for 17 yards, too.

This week, his Bears host the Lions coming off a bye week in a game that has a totally different feel from their Week 5 matchup.

With Jay Cutler playing quality football along with Forte's dominance while getting between 25 and 30 touches a game, Chicago quietly has quite the explosive offense.

They aren't the Packers or Saints, but they hurt you in a different way.

Detroit's defensive front is highly publicized, mainly because of Ndamukong Suh, and although they can rush the passer they are currently allowing 137.6 yards per game on 5.2 yards per carry.

The Bears will once again ride Forte in this one.

The 49ers vs. Giants matchup is the arguably the biggest game on Week 10's slate, pitting teams with a combined three losses against each other.

Similar to the Detroit, New York's defensive front has terrorized opposing quarterbacks this year, but they've struggled mightily against the run, as they're allowing 127 rushing yards per game at 4.6 yards a pop.

Big game for Gore?

I think so.

He's gone over 100 in five straight, and there's no reason to believe he won't make it six on Sunday at home.

Maurice Jones-Drew

Don't forget about Jones-Drew because his 2-6 Jaguars are facing the 0-9 Colts. This is a great matchup for him.

Indianapolis has surrendered a shade above 146 yards per contest this season and Jacksonville will exploit their weakness by giving MJD a good amount of carries.

They need to make things easier for Blaine Gabbert, and by the second half, he should be able to work the middle of the field with Marcedes Lewis on play-action fakes because of Jones-Drew's presence.

Don't forget about him in the screen game, either.

The Packers are only allowing 100 yards on the ground per game. That doesn't tell the whole story. Teams are continually throwing the football against them with success so most clubs aren't leaning on their running backs.

You think Minnesota will lean on AP in this one?

I do.

He had a bruising 175-yard day in Week 7—expect more of the same in Lambeau.

The Packers should win this football game, but I envision Mr. Peterson keeping this game close enough to send a legitimate scare to the Cheeseheads.
