NFL Week 10 Picks: Predicting Teams Guaranteed to Win in Blowout Fashion

Ryan PhillipsNov 9, 2011

The Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans are rolling right now. Both teams have matched the high expectations they faced entering the season and look to be headed to the top of their respective conferences. This weekend, they should continue chugging along and look set to walk away with blowout wins.

The Packers are currently 8-0 after dispatching the San Diego Chargers by a score of 45-38 in Week 9. In Week 10, Green Bay will welcome the 2-6 Minnesota Vikings to Lambeau Field for a matchup on Monday Night Football. We shouldn't expect anything less than a convincing win.

The Packers, of course, are led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is on pace to have one of the greatest seasons in NFL history. Through eight games, Rodgers has been almost perfect, completing 192 of 265 passes for 2,619 yards, 24 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He leads the NFL in completion percentage (72.5 percent), yards per attempt (9.88) and his quarterback rating is a ridiculous 129.1, which is 28.5 points higher than second place (Drew Brees, 100.6).

Rodgers is phenomenal, but the incredible wealth of weapons at his disposal is almost embarrassing. He has five capable receivers in Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones, Jordy Nelson and rookie Randall Cobb, as well as tight end Jermichael Finley. This weekend, that vaunted passing attack faces a Minnesota team that ranks 30th against the pass, allowing 273.6 yards per game.

The Packers should absolutely light-up the Vikings and win by several touchdowns. A home game on Monday night against a rival that can't defend Green Bay's biggest strength spells a big-time blowout for Rodgers and company.

Meanwhile, the Texans have struggled through injuries to key players this year, but have somehow managed to get even better by weathering that storm. Though Mario Williams is out for the season and Andre Johnson does not appear ready to return from his hamstring injury, running back Arian Foster is back in form and dominating opposing defenses.

Houston is currently 6-3 after reeling off three consecutive wins. This Sunday, they face a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that opened the year 3-1, but who have dropped three of their last four and currently sit at 4-4. The Texans should blast the Bucs in this one.

Tampa Bay has struggled to find an identity this season, while Houston has firmly established itself as a team that plays tough defense and runs the ball consistently. New defensive coordinator Wade Phillips has worked wonders as his unit is currently the best in the NFL, allowing just 274.0 yards per game.

On the other side of the ball, Houston has been fantastic thanks to Foster's return to health. The Texans currently boast the league's second-best rushing attack (155.1 yards per game).

The Texans are really rounding into form and I see them blowing away the Buccaneers on Sunday.
