Week 10 Waiver Wire: 7 Players Guaranteed To Win Your League

Daniel O'BrienNov 9, 2011

Deciding on the right fantasy football waiver-wire additions can be a dicey endeavor, but there are several free agents primed for success the rest of the season.

Keep an eye on the running back situations in Washington and San Francisco, as young talent will have an opportunity to step up for those teams Sunday. Also, signs point toward pass-catchers like Jake Ballard and Earl Bennett being productive for the remainder of the season.

Here are seven fantasy performers you can count on this weekend.

Jake Ballard

1 of 7

Tight end Jake Ballard has become a go-to target for Eli Manning during crunch time, and his recent performance should give fantasy owners the conviction to pick him up and start him.

San Francisco is a great run-stopping squad, but they are suspect against the pass. Look for Manning to utilize Ballard sporadically throughout the game against the 49ers. The two have built a solid connection, and Ballard has proved he is dependable.

My bold prediction: Ballard will have six catches for 55 yards and a touchdown Sunday.

Roy Helu

2 of 7

After an impressive start as a dual-threat back last week, it looks like Roy Helu will be starting again this week against Miami.

While he didn't look awesome rushing the ball, he proved that he can pass-catch with the best of them, as he had 14 catches and a game-high 105 yards against San Francisco.

Mike Shanahan has great confidence in Helu, so he'll probably see plenty of touches Sunday against the Dolphins. Most importantly, his confidence is high after proving he can produce on the pro level.

Tim Tebow

3 of 7

Amid all the drama surrounding his roller coaster season, Tim Tebow has turned out to be an excellent fantasy quarterback. If you're looking for a signal-caller and he's available, don't hesitate to pick him up.

Last week, he threw for 124 yards, rushed for 118 and tossed a pair of touchdowns. This week, he faces a below-average defense in Kansas City, and his dual-threat capability will have them on their toes.

Despite his deficiencies and not being a prototypical quarterback, Tebow is a great fantasy pickup.

My bold prediction: This Sunday Tebow will throw for two touchdowns and run for one.

Miami Dolphins Defense

4 of 7

Picking up Miami's defense off waivers is advisable this week based on the matchup.

The Dolphins are at home against Washington, one of the worst offenses in the league. Vontae Davis is back this week, and he will help Miami limit the Redskins to minimal production.

I put the over/under for Redskin touchdowns allowed at 1.5. Miami is the worst team in the AFC East, but they're a tough squad and will make life difficult for John Beck and Company.

Kendall Hunter

5 of 7

Okay, San Francisco 49ers running back Kendall Hunter is far from a guarantee. But if Frank Gore's ankle injury keeps bugging him, he could save the day for the 49ers.

Hunter already is averaging 4.5 yards per carry, and has shown the ability to turn loose for some big gains. The Giants aren't particularly prolific at stopping the run (25th in the league, actually), so he could have a breakout game if given the chance.

He's worth keeping an eye on and starting if Gore's ankle condition doesn't improve over the next couple of days.

Earl Bennett

6 of 7

Earl Bennett's recent upswing has earned himself some playing time for fantasy owners this week. He is one of the best waiver-wire free agents out there, and he still hasn't been picked up in many leagues.

His excellent Monday night performance against Philadelphia catapulted him to starter status. Don't expect him to haul in eight catches for 115 yards every week, and especially not this week against the Lions. Nonetheless, Bennett's connection with Jay Cutler will prove to be a worthwhile pickup for the rest of the season.

Jackie Battle

7 of 7

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jackie Battle is no world-beater, but he's a great waiver choice at this point in the season.

Broncos versus Chiefs is a case of an above-average offense facing a below-average defense. He'll be getting a bunch of touches this week and be the primary back. He will get five yards per carry and catch the occasional pass against Denver.

Touchdown over/under: 1.5

Total yardage over/under: 100
