The whirlwind season of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish continues on Saturday against the Maryland Terrapins.

Notre Dame is technically the home team in this game, but it is much closer to Maryland's home.

Notre Dame enters the game 6-3. Maryland is 2-7, 1-5 in ACC play.

When: Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. EST

Betting Line

Notre Dame (-21), according to Bodog.

The Fighting Irish are the better team, but whether or not they can be counted on to win by more than 21 points is suspect. They are certainly capable of it, but I don't like that bet.

Remember that while Notre Dame is technically the home team here, the game is being played in Maryland's backyard.

I don't think that pushes them over the top, but 21 points is too much.

BCS/Top 25 Implications

Neither team will be ranked after this game. Notre Dame has the only real chance at making a BCS game this year. It's doubtful that that will happen.

If it is going to happen, Notre Dame will need to run the table. that means they need to win here.

What They're Saying

Al Leser of the South Bend Tribune had this to say about Notre Dame looking ahead to its season finale with Stanford.

A good team would be able to handle the next two games without a hiccup. Notre Dame will be a double-digit favorite for both. Its mandate will be to live up to the gamblers' confidence.

It comes down to an ability to stay out of its own way. The next two weeks, the only team that can beat Notre Dame is Notre Dame.

Davin Meggett. Any chance that Maryland has at an upset revolves around him.

Notre Dame Player to Watch

Michael Floyd. If Tommy Rees finds him, this will be a blowout.

Key Matchup

Notre Dame defense vs. Maryland's offense. Maryland will only win if it scores a lot of points.

On the Hot Seat

It's hard to see a coach's job on the line. But if Notre Dame doesn't win out until Stanford, Brian Kelly will be on the hot seat in 2012.

Prediction: Notre Dame 34, Maryland 20

The spread will be close, the game won't be. Notre Dame is much better.
