WWE 12: Brock Lesnar's Return Makes Video Game a Must Own

Adam WellsNov 8, 2011

In past years, the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw video game series had a tendency to rest on its laurels and not push the envelope. When it was announced that the series was going to change its name to just WWE '12 and do away with the old concept, hope was restored to fans who had become disenfranchised.

That hope increased exponentially when developer THQ announced that former WWE champion and current UFC superstar Brock Lesnar would be appearing in the game. It is the first time that he has been featured in a WWE video game since leaving the promotion in 2004.

For those fans that don't recall, Lesnar was the best video game wrestler of all time. He was so strong, so fast, so powerful, he made everyone else in the game pale in comparison.

The best move that Lesnar had was this devastating clothesline, where he did a little pose first and then just melee his challenger. You could do that for five minutes, deliver an F-5 and make your opponent cry.

There are a lot of great reasons to own WWE '12, including all the legends, new gameplay mechanics and more well developed storylines. But of all the reasons that you might have to buy the game, Lesnar has to be the reason.

That and the fact that THQ was able to get the licensing rights to CM Punk's new theme song, "Cult of Personality."

Lesnar may be a mixed martial arts fighter now, but his spirit lives in WWE, and fans will get to rejoice in bringing that spirit back on November 22 when the game is released.

Nothing will compare to the joy of seeing Lesnar stroll down the aisle, jumping on to the apron, setting the fireworks off, beating your opponent to a pulp, delivering an F-5 or two through a table and winning the WWE championship with the best virtual-reality wrestler that the world has ever known.

Randy Orton might be on the cover of the game, but Lesnar is going to be the star of the show. Just don't make the mistake of not picking him, or else your dreams of conquering the WWE will get shot down in a blaze of glory.
