WWE Survivor Series 2011: Looking at Team Barret vs Team Orton

Last night on the Raw from Liverpool it was announced that this year's Survivor Series would indeed see a traditional elimination match take place.

The two captains announced were Wade Barrett and Randy Orton. This is big for Barrett as it looks like he is at the start of a new push and this could be his chance to jumps up the ranks on SmackDown.

Team Barrett consist of Wade Barrett of course along with Cody Rhodes, Christian, Jack Swagger and Hunico. Team Orton is led by Orton along with Sin Cara, Sheamus, Mason Ryan and Kofi Kingston.

The fact that Ryder, Ziggler and Morrison are not in the match makes me think any combination of those three could be involved in a US title match.

Team Barrett and Team Orton have several feuds between the members of each group to make this an interesting match.

Orton and Rhodes have been in a bitter feud as of late, which has seen each man get busted open to the point of requiring stitches. I think Rhodes is on the verge of a main event push and this match could put him closer to that.

I am a little shocked it was not billed as team Rhodes seeing as he is the one feuding with Orton, but Barrett could be the one getting the main event push soon.

Sheamus and Christian have been going at it for a couple months at this point so it makes sense to have them continue their feud through this match.

Christian is a great wrestler and he and Sheamus have put on some very high quality matches lately so I think they will add a lot of excitement to this match as well.

The third feud being explored is Sin Cara and Hunico. After Hunico lost his mask to Sin Cara he took on a more violent style and last week on SmackDown he showed he was not going to let this be the end of his issues with Sin Cara.

Epico made his debut last week and after interference by Hunico the two beat down Sin Cara to the dismay of the crowd in attendance.

I am liking WWE's use of the lucha stars and hopefully Epico stays around and was not brought in as a random person to face Sin Cara.

Frankly I hope Mysterio returns soon and gets involved because these four guys could take the house down if they are allowed to do a traditional lucha libre-style match.

Also in the match at Survivor Series are Jack Swagger and Kofi Kingston, who have been fighting over the tag team titles.

Having Bourne on suspension means we were not going to see a tag title match, but having these guys continue to fight through this match makes it so that when Bourne does return he can continue to fight over the tag team titles.

Even though Barrett and Mason Ryan don't really have intense rivalries with any of the other superstars they are both looking like they will be getting a good push soon, so including them in the match only serves to help everyone involved.

I have said before that Barrett should be back in the main event picture and if he is able to pull out a win over team Orton then he could just have that chance.

I am looking forward to Survivor Series for many reasons, but this match is actually the one I think I am most excited to see out of the four matches set so far.

The other matches taking place will be CM Punk facing Alberto Del Rio for the WWE title, Big Show against Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Title and John Cena teaming with The Rock to take on Awesome Truth.
