Seattle Seahawks and the 5 NFL Teams We Hate Watching
You know how there are a few teams in the NFL that you just cannot stand watching?
There are always teams for a number of reasons where you just can't sit through an entire game watching them play. It's not necessarily because they are a bad team, but it's because they either lack star power or they just have a predictable game plan where you know what to expect out of the team every week.
The Seattle Seahawks hit the mark on all three of these categories.
The Seahawks are not only a bad team, but they lack star power and you know what to expect out of them every week. And what to expect out of them isn't pretty.
The 'Hawks are coming off of a division title from 2010 that saw them win the NFC West with a 7-9 record, becoming the first team with a losing record to win a division and host a playoff game.
Their most recognizable player left through free agency in Matt Hasselbeck, who has surprisingly led the Tennessee Titans to a respectable record through eight games at 4-4.
The Seahawks, on the other hand, are at a pedestrian 2-6 record through eight games and really have no hopes of going anywhere but straight up the draft board.
Here are the Seahawks and four other NFL teams that you just cannot stand to watch.
Jacksonville Jaguars
1 of 5This is a bad team to watch because they hit the trifecta.
They don't have star power. They're a terrible team. Did I mention how they have a predictable game plan?
In all fairness, the Jaguars aren't a very talented team. As has been the case for most of coach Jack Del Rio's tenure, he tries to make the best out of a situation where there isn't much hope.
The Jags have one star player. His name is Maurice Jones-Drew. If you ask a casual NFL fan, they'd be hard-pressed to name another player on that team.
Outside of Jones-Drew, Josh Scobee might be the team MVP. Outside of the defense, he just about led the Jaguars to victory over one of the best teams in the NFL in the Baltimore Ravens when he kicked three of his four field goals over 50 yards out.
The Jaguars have the worst offense in the NFL. Yes, worse than the Colts and the Rams. They are scoring just 12.2 PPG under Blaine Gabbert's lead.
Due to the fact that their receiving situation is so bad that they gave Mike Thomas a contract extension several games into the season, where he has 31 receptions for 333 yards and a touchdown, it's not hard to comprehend why the Jags are so horrible offensively despite the presence of one of the best backs in the league.
I forgot to include the fact that they brought back Mike Sims-Walker almost immediately as soon as he got cut by the Rams. They didn't even make an effort to re-sign him as a free agent in the offseason. They jumped at the chance to sign him to spark their offense. He's now out for the season after two games and one catch.
Nobody wants to watch the Jags. Not even Jaguar fans.
Indianapolis Colts
2 of 5I wanted to postpone this selection until later in the slideshow, but I couldn't wait. The Colts are that bad to not only watch, but their play is even worse.
Look, we knew that this team would struggle without Peyton Manning. We knew that there was a good chance that they wouldn't make it to the postseason without their "golden boy." But we didn't think they'd be 0-9 bad.
I may be in the minority, but I still don't think this team is 0-9 bad. I truly believe that this team's morale and spirits are so low, that they just put forth the worst efforts of any NFL team week in and week out.
Combine that with the "Suck for Luck" sweepstakes and you have the 2011 Indianapolis Colts.
I know that just because you have a lot of talent on a team, it doesn't mean they are a good team.
However, when you have All-Pro players such as Dallas Clark, Reggie Wayne, Robert Mathis, Dwight Freeney and Jeff Saturday on your squad, it is hard to fathom that a squad with those types of players are truly a 0-9 team.
This has a lot to do with why this team is so frustrating to watch. They have the potential to be a decent squad, but they simply don't care. They don't want to win football games.
It seems as the weeks go by, they just get worse.
Remember the 62-7 thrashing by the Saints a few weeks back on national television? The drilling by the Texans in the opening week? The most recent 31-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons?
I don't care if your team is bad. I do care about a team playing at their absolute best.
The Indianapolis Colts are not one of those teams. Because of that reason, they are the worst team to watch in all of football.
St. Louis Rams
3 of 5This is a flat-out boring team to watch.
They really don't have much star power, especially on the defensive side of the ball where Chris Long just may be the biggest name on defense.
They have a couple of quality offensive starters in Steven Jackson and Sam Bradford, but due to the lack of talent on the receiving end, the Rams have a terrible offense. They currently rank 31st in points scored.
Brandon Lloyd has added a little spice to their attack, but it's still not good enough to lift this offense. They just lost to the John Skelton-led Arizona Cardinals in overtime on Sunday.
The defense ranks 29th in points allowed.
Basically, they can't stop anybody. They can't score on anybody. In a nutshell, they can't beat John Skelton.
If you can't beat a Skelton-led team, you deserve a ranking on this list.
Cleveland Browns
4 of 5This is a frustrating team to watch. Unlike the Colts, however, this is a team that just isn't capable of playing beyond the way they've played this season. Hell, if anything they've played beyond expectations.
The Browns currently sit at 3-5. It's not a good record, but it's certainly not the worst in the league.
With the kind of talent that the Browns have, it wouldn't have been a shock to see them with a worse record than they currently have at the moment.
Colt McCoy is not the future for the Browns. I like the kid, I think he has a great personality and tries to keep his mistakes to a minimum, but he is not a starting QB in this league. He doesn't have enough playmaking ability to move his team down the field, and when you combine the fact that the Browns are so deprived of talent, especially with the Peyton Hillis-conflict, it just makes the Browns and McCoy look worse.
This is where McCoy ranks among his fellow quarterback brethren at the midpoint mark of the season: 27th in quarterback rating, 23rd in yards per game, 33rd in yards per attempt and 27th in completion percentage.
He doesn't have an NFL-caliber arm. It's as simple as that.
Can he be a career backup quarterback in the vain of Greg McElroy? Sure. But as a starter in this league? There's no way in hell McCoy will last.
The Browns don't have any star power and the negation of Peyton Hillis makes this team terrible to watch.
Did I mention that they were involved in a 6-3 snorefest with the Seattle Seahawks which was one of the worst NFL games of all time?
Seattle Seahawks
5 of 5And last, but not least (no really), the Seattle Seahawks!
A team that considers a quarterback situation with career backups Charlie Whitehurst and Tarvaris Jackson to be a good situation. A team that starts a RB who hasn't been heard from since 2008 in Marshawn Lynch. A team that has great wide receivers such as....wait, who are their receivers again?
Oh yeah, Mike Williams and Sidney Rice.
Why did I bother mentioning those names again? Do they even deserve to be mentioned?
Here's the thing with the Seahawks. They really don't have any talent. Seriously.
They have Tarvaris Jackson as their best quarterback. In his only full season starting in the NFL, he threw nine touchdowns against 12 picks for the Vikings in 2007.
Wanna know why the Vikings were so desperate for the services of a 40-year-old Brett Favre? Just look at Tarvaris Jackson.
Jackson is not a good QB. He is not even a decent QB. He turns the ball over. He's not accurate. He can't create big plays to save his life. Where are the positive attributes that a starting quarterback typically has? Remember when he got benched in favor of Gus Frerotte?
Do I need to get into detail about Charlie Whitehurst?
The 'Hawks rank 28th in PPG, 29th in YPG and they're currently 2-6.
Do yourself a favor and don't watch this team. As a matter of fact, if your favorite team is playing the Seahawks or any of the previous four teams mentioned, do not watch any of these teams play football. You'll just end up falling asleep.
