ACC Saturday Hoops Round Up
No. 1 NORTH CAROLINA 100, Oral Roberts (Golden Eagles, 3,200 students, Tulsa, OK) 84 – Yet again, UNC does a lot while looking like they are doing little. In the process, Tyler Hansbrough scored 26 points leaving him just nine shy of passing Phil Ford to become the Heels leading scorer of all time.
Deon Thompson added 22 points for the Tar Heels (9-0), who had no trouble in their first game following a 10-day exam break. UNC shot 59 percent to take a 20-point halftime lead and was never seriously threatened from there in yet another lopsided victory.
The ever-improving Deon Thompson added his 22 points on 10 of 12 shooting with 8 rebounds, while Danny Green picked up 12 points and five stitches to close a gash
over his eye after a second-half head-to-head collision.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
Hansbrough slipped by the Terps’ Juan Dixon into 11th on the ACC all-time scoring list with 2,282 career points. Next on the list are Ford and the legendary David Thompson at 2,309. Averaging 22 points per game, Psycho T will likely pass Thompson during the next two games against either Evansville (12/18) or Valparaiso (12/20).
J.J. Redick of Duke is the league’s all-time leading scorer with 2,769 points. On his current pace, Hansbrough will pass Redick during the Heels first game of the 2009 ACC Tournament in Atlanta. If his pace quickens, he may set the record at home during the final regular season game of his storied career against the arch rival Blue Devils.
N.C. STATE 74, Winston-Salem State (Rams, 6,000 students, Winston-Salem, NC) 46 – Even with two starters out and Brandon Costner suffering a gash above his right eye, N.C .State had no shortage of weapons. With junior point guard Farnold Degand in street clothes for disciplinary reasons and senior small forward Courtney Fells on the bench, the Wolfpack (5-1) easily out-gunned the Rams just the same.(Photos by AP Photo/Gerry Broome, Atlanta Journal Constitution/Louie Favorite, Anderson Independent Messenger/Mark Crammer)
