WWE: Why the Best Is Yet to Come for CM Punk
The rise of CM Punk from high-level mid-card wrestler to full-fledged main-eventer has been a very interesting and entertaining journey thus far.
From his mind-blowing promo so many months ago where he had people wondering whether he had gone insane to his current feud with Alberto Del Rio, we have seen him grow in ways I never thought possible.
Punk is a wrestling purist and his hard work has paid off. He took the hard route to get to where he is by wrestling for years in the indy promotions and traveling to other promotions all over the world.

This has earned him a certain kind of street cred with some wrestling fans that guys like Brock Lesnar never had.
But even with all that, I still think this is just the beginning for CM Punk. He is still young and has years ahead of him to carry the torch for WWE. Many people have drawn comparisons to CM Punk and Stone Cold Steve Austin, which is understandable.
They both worked for years before breaking out with one stellar promo. I think there is another person whose rise to fame is a little closer to Punk's than Austin though, and that is Shawn Michaels.
Michaels toiled away in the tag team and mid card divisions for years. He was given many title shots where he fell short before finally winning the big one. Even though Michaels was a big hit before, I think his big break out moment came when he and Triple H formed DX.
Just like Punk, DX made waves by making controversial statements. Punk may have different motives than DX did back then, but they still have a similar rise to stardom.
I am a firm believer that Punk is still just getting started. The thing that is crazy is he has already done so much that it seems strange to be saying that.
I am not sure if Del Rio will be losing the title come Survivor Series, but I am sure he and Punk will put on a great match. These two guys are both amazing in the ring and have very good fundamentals to where this could be the match of the year if they pull out all the stops.
Many superstars have won world titles but still never broke out until one certain moment took them to the next level. I would say this was the case with Hulk Hogan. He was the biggest thing in wrestling, but the NWO pushed him even higher up the food chain.
Hogan went from Uber Babyface to Super Heel in a matter of seconds when he came out to assist Hall and Nash that fateful night.
I think despite Punk being one of the hottest topics in wrestling he is still not at the height of his career.
He could potentiality be the guy to dethrone Ric Flair and his sixteen world championship record if he stays with WWE long enough and stays on his current path.
At one time, I thought it would be Triple H would would break Flair's record, but injuries and a want to do more behind the scenes stuff with WWE stopped him from achieving that goal.
I am not declaring Punk is the next Ric Flair, because that would imply that Punk could not be better than Flair some time down the line.
I will be watching Survivor Series with great anticipation for Punk's showdown with Alberto Del Rio.
What do you guys think, are Punk's best days still ahead of him?
