NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Projecting Final Records for All 32 Teams
Another week of the NFL season is in the books, and the Green Bay Packers are still clearly the best team in the league.
The San Francisco 49ers have climbed to the No. 2 spot on the strength of a 7-1 record. They will be put to the test in Week 10 when this week's No. 3 team comes to town.
Click through to see where the rest of the NFL teams rank in this week's power rankings.
1. Green Bay Packers
1 of 32The Packers survived a scare from the Chargers this week to move to 8-0.
They have a couple of fairly easy games against the Vikings and Buccaneers before the Thanksgiving showdown with Lions in Detroit.
They are playing really well right now, but there is still a good chance they stumble a couple of times before the season is over.
Final record: 14-2
2. San Francisco 49ers
2 of 32The 49ers just keep winning football games. They moved to 7-1 with an ugly win over the Redskins this week.
They still have some tough games left against teams like the Giants, Ravens and Steelers, but they will win the NFC West going away even if they drop all three of those games.
Final record: 12-4
3. New York Giants
3 of 32The Giants got a huge win this week over the Patriots in Foxboro.
They have a really tough schedule ahead of them with games against the 49ers, Eagles, Saints and Packers in the next four weeks. The NFC East is theirs for the taking if they can go at least 2-2 in those games.
Final record: 11-5
4. New Orleans Saints
4 of 32The Saints got back on track this week with a win over the Buccaneers.
They have a tough matchup in Atlanta this week, but get a bye and softer schedule after that. They will be in a good fight for the No. 2 seed in the NFC with the 49ers and Giants down the stretch.
Final record: 11-5
5. Baltimore Ravens
5 of 32The Ravens got a huge win over the Steelers this week to remain ahead of Pittsburgh in the AFC North race.
They have been inconsistent at times, but should finish strong because their remaining schedule is pretty soft. They look poised to make a run for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Final record: 12-4
6. Atlanta Falcons
6 of 32The Falcons took care of business this week against a terrible Colts team.
Atlanta is looking like the team people expected them to be before the season started. They have an incredibly easy schedule remaining with only three games against playoff contenders. One of those games is this week against the Saints.
Final record: 11-5
7. Houston Texans
7 of 32The Texans won their third straight on Sunday against the Browns.
Houston played the toughest part of their schedule up front. Now they will have a chance to win some easier games while Andre Johnson continues to heal. This offense will look deadly once he is back in the fold.
Final record: 11-5
8. Pittsburgh Steelers
8 of 32The Steelers lost a heart-breaker to the Ravens on Sunday night football this week.
Pittsburgh also faces a favorable schedule down the stretch. They have two left against the Bengals and one against the 49ers. Those are the only three left against contenders. Look for them to finish strong.
Final record: 11-5
9. Buffalo Bills
9 of 32The Bills lost a tough game this week against the Jets.
While Buffalo is one of the most surprising teams of the 2011 NFL season, they still face an uphill battle to make the playoffs. Don't be surprised to see them on the outside looking in when the season is over.
Final record: 10-6
10. New England Patriots
10 of 32The look right there on Tom Brady's face says it all.
The Patriots are terrible on defense this season. Brady still has the firepower to win a lot of games, but they will struggle in the postseason.
The schedule is pretty kind to them the rest of the way. Games against the Jets, Eagles and Bills look to be their only chances of stumbling.
Final record: 11-5
11. Detroit Lions
11 of 32The Lions have a couple of tricky games against the Bears and Panthers before the big Thanksgiving showdown against the Packers.
Detroit looks to have finally gotten over the hump as a legitimate playoff contender. They will not have enough to catch the Packers in the NFC North, but they will be a nightmare matchup for someone on Wild Card weekend.
Final record: 11-5
12. New York Jets
12 of 32The Jets got a big divisional win over the Bills this week.
They, like the Bills, are probably on the outside looking in when the season ends, but a strong second half could change that. The key will be Mark Sanchez. He will either play them in or out of the playoffs.
Final record: 10-6
13. Cincinnati Bengals
13 of 32The Bengals keep quietly winning football games. Their win on Sunday gave them five in a row.
Cincinnati faces a tough second half to their season with four games against Baltimore and Pittsburgh. They do control their own destiny.
Andy Dalton and A.J. Green look like they are poised to lead this franchise for years to come.
Final record: 10-6
14. Chicago Bears
14 of 32The Bears got a really nice win on the road against the Eagles this week.
The problem Chicago faces going forward is that they are in the same division with the Packers and Lions. That means their only shot at getting in the playoffs is a wild card spot, and it does not look like 10-6 will be good enough to earn a wild card spot this year.
Final record: 10-6
15. Philadelphia Eagles
15 of 32The Eagles came up short again this week against the Bears, but they are playing better than they were in the first month of the season.
They will be relegated to playing spoiler down the stretch because of their slow start. It will be interesting to see if Andy Reid keeps his job if his team falls short of the playoffs.
Final record: 9-7
16. San Diego Chargers
16 of 32Philip Rivers is hurt. He will not admit it, but that seems to be the only possible explanation for how poorly he has been playing this season.
Rivers was able to get the Chargers back in the game late, but that was only after he threw two picks that were returned for interceptions.
They can finish above .500 if Rivers plays better, but that is best case scenario with how he is playing right now.
Final record: 8-8
17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
17 of 32Josh Freeman has been better over the last couple of weeks. His play will determine if the Buccaneers can stay in the hunt or not.
Their schedule is not very tough the rest of the way, but their inconsistent play so far gives them the look of an 8-8 team.
Final record: 8-8
18. Dallas Cowboys
18 of 32The Cowboys have found their next star in DeMarco Murray. His play has taken some of the pressure off Tony Romo.
Dallas will once again be without Pro Bowl receiver Miles Austin for a couple of weeks because of a hamstring injury. It is hard to see them playing any better than .500 football with him out of the lineup.
Final record: 8-8
19. Kansas City Chiefs
19 of 32Talk about crashing back down to earth. The Chiefs were flying high after winning four in a row. It looked like they would have no problem moving that streak to five with the Dolphins coming to town.
That is why they play the game. The winless Dolphins came in to Arrowhead and blew the doors off.
Things will not get any easier for the Chiefs with games against the Patriots, Steelers, Jets and Packers left on the schedule.
Final record: 7-9
20. Tennessee Titans
20 of 32The good news for the Titans is that Chris Johnson looked a whole lot better on Sunday.
The bad news is that the rest of the team is not very good. They could not hold a 17-7 second half lead against the Bengals.
There just are not many games left on their schedule that look like wins.
Final record: 6-10
21. Oakland Raiders
21 of 32The AFC West is really a mess. The Raiders lost a game that they really needed on Sunday, but they are still right in the mix because the Chargers and Chiefs both lost.
Oakland has to be encouraged by the way Carson Palmer played. He will be even better when Darren McFadden returns from his injury.
Final record: 7-9
22. Minnesota Vikings
22 of 32This is the point where you really see a drop in the quality of teams.
The Vikings could have a stronger second half if Christian Ponder plays well. He has looked pretty good so far, and he has the benefit of handing the ball to the best running back in the league.
Being able to shorten the game with Adrian Peterson could help them win a game or two that you would not think they have a chance to win.
Final record: 5-11
23. Carolina Panthers
23 of 32It is amazing what a difference one player can make. Cam Newton has come in and made the Panthers competitive week in and week out.
They still are not winning a lot of games, but they will as Cam Newton gets better and they put some better players around him from the 2012 draft.
Final record: 6-10
24. Cleveland Browns
24 of 32The Browns are really falling apart. They got blown out again this week, and there are stories coming out about Peyton Hillis causing problems in the locker room because he is unhappy about his contract situation.
They need Hillis out there and playing well in order to win games, but it does not look like he will be able to play again this week against the Rams.
Final record: 5-11
25. Jacksonville Jaguars
25 of 32It looks like the only thing the Jaguars have left to play for this year is Jack Del Rio's job. It is hard to see how he can survive another losing season.
The good news for Jacksonville is that they still have two games left against the Colts. That should give Blaine Gabbert some confidence for 2012.
Final record: 4-12
26. Denver Broncos
26 of 32Tim Tebow giveth and Tim Tebow taketh away.
He was in a giving mood this week against the Raiders when he led the Broncos to an impressive win. Those wins will probably be hard to come by the rest of the way.
The more interesting thing to watch will he how short Tebow's leash is. John Fox said last week that he was week to week.
Final record: 4-12
27. Arizona Cardinals
27 of 32The Cardinals got an ugly win this week against the Rams.
It looks like they could be without Kevin Kolb for another week. That is not good news with the Eagles coming to town in Week 10. It is hard to see them keeping that game close.
Arizona has a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball, but they are not going to win many games until they get better play from the quarterback position.
Final Record: 4-12
28. Washington Redskins
28 of 32No team has fallen further than the Redskins throughout the 2011 season.
They still play pretty good defense, but they have not scored more than 20 points in a game since Week 2. You just cannot win many games in the NFL when you average just 15.9 points per game.
Final record: 4-12
29. Seattle Seahawks
29 of 32Speaking of teams that cannot score points, the Seahawks are averaging just 15.2 points per game. That is not very good.
They do not have a tough schedule left, but there are no easy games for this team.
Seattle has a chance to put together a wining second half if Marshawn Lynch will run the ball like he did against the Cowboys, but he has been wildly inconsistent this season.
Final record: 4-12
30. St. Louis Rams
30 of 32The Rams just are not a very good football team. They are struggling on both sides of the ball.
They will have a chance to win some games down the stretch with two games left against the Seahawks and one against the Cardinals. The NFC West is a really bad division.
Final record: 3-13
31. Miami Dolphins
31 of 32Any given Sunday. That expression has never been more true than this Sunday when the Dolphins went to Kansas City and thumped the Chiefs.
The Dolphins better enjoy that win because it is the only one they are going to get this season. Unfortunately for them, it will keep them from having a shot at Andrew Luck.
Final record: 1-15
32. Indianapolis Colts
32 of 32The Colts will not win a game in 2011. They really are that bad. I say it every week, but it really is amazing how losing just one player took them from a top 10 team in the league to the worst team in the league.
They still have two games against the Jaguars, so there is a chance they could get a win, but they won't.
Final record: 0-16
