NFL Week 10 Picks: Teams That Don't Have a Prayer

Mike MoraitisNov 7, 2011

It's Week 10 and thus another edition of NFL teams that don't stand a chance against their respective matchups.

It might be a team who will come off a winning streak, or a team that has been terrible all year. No matter how you slice it, there are just some teams that won't stand a chance this week.

Minnesota Vikings

1 of 6

This is probably one of the easiest picks of the year.

The Minnesota Vikings have a promising quarterback in Christian Ponder. The Green Bay Packers, on the other hand, have the best quarterback in the league.

Aaron Rodgers leads the 8-0 Packers against the 2-6 Vikings and their 30th-ranked pass defense.

Rodgers will have no problem carving up Minnesota's secondary, making it a long day of first downs and touchdowns. Minnesota doesn't have even close to the offense necessary to keep up with Green Bay.

The Vikings might have given the Pack a run for their money in their last meeting, but consider that a fluke. That might have been the best chance for Green Bay to lose a game all year.

Be surprised if the Pack isn't 9-0 going into Week 11.

Washington Redskins

2 of 6

This will officially be the first week I pick the Miami Dolphins this season.

After a 31-3 beat down of the Kansas City Chiefs, a playoff contender, the Dolphins will take their effort back to South Beach to take on the Washington Redskins.

The Redskins are a better team than the Dolphins, but since when do the Redskins play to their potential? Washington is a perfect candidate to play a letdown game against a Dolphin team that always comes to play.

Expect the Dolphins to be riding high from their Week 9 win, with their running game behind Reggie Bush finally gaining some traction. He should have another big day against the Redskins 22nd-ranked rush defense.

Miami will further erase their hopes of drafting Andrew Luck with another win Week 10. Somebody tell the Dolphins they're not supposed to win this much!

Indianapolis Colts

3 of 6

The Indianapolis Colts could be up against a high school football team in Week 10 and I still wouldn't pick them.

Indy is the perfect candidate to make history this season and go winless in 2011.

If the Jacksonville Jaguars have done nothing else, they've played stellar defense this season, being ranked in the top 10 in the league.

The Jags should be able to shutdown what's an anemic offense both through the air and on the ground for the Colts.

This will be the perfect "easy win" situation for rookie Blaine Gabbert and I expect him to have the best game of his career behind a Jacksonville victory.

Seattle Seahawks

The Baltimore Ravens just came off their biggest win of the season, a 23-20 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If you think Baltimore isn't riding as high as they have all season after that win, you'd be crazy.

No letdowns this week as the Ravens will take on the Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle does have a strong defense, but unfortunately for them, they still need to score points. Having one of the worst offenses in the league, the Seahawks won't be scoring much this week.

Expect it to an ugly game for Seattle, which happens to be the specialty of Baltimore, and a long day for Pete Carroll.

Effort may be low since the Seahawks' playoff hopes are finished, even in the worst division in football.

San Francisco 49ers

5 of 6

Who would have thought that a Week 10 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants would be for the second-best record in the NFC and ultimately, a possible playoff bye?

Not me. Or anyone else for that matter.

But that's football and it has become a reality for both teams this season.

The 49ers come off a win over the Washington Redskins that improved their record to 7-1 on the season. It was a win that was expected, however ugly it might have been.

Meanwhile, the Giants are coming off an impressive win against the New England Patriots that saw the G-men's injured defense looking top-notch against one of the best offenses in the NFL.

Combine the fact that Eli Manning is having the best season of his career, and you have the perfect storm for another win for the Giants.

The 49ers have had an impressive season, but the Giants passing offense should continue to gain a ton of yards and points against the 22nd-ranked pass defense of the 49ers.

With not much of a passing attack, the 49ers will look to Frank Gore to be their offensive spark. If the Giants can slow him down, it will setup a scenario where Alex Smith will have to throw to win.

Don't be surprised if they do shut down Gore as the Giants defense continues to get healthier week by week.

If the Giants were able to quiet Tom Brady and make him throw two interceptions, just imagine what they can do to Smith.

Kansas City Chiefs

6 of 6

The Tim Tebow-led Denver Broncos flew to a stunning 38-24 blowout victory over the Oakland Raiders Week 9.

On the opposite side of the coin, the Kansas City Chiefs were blown out by one of the worst teams in the league, the Miami Dolphins.

It was a puzzling loss for a team that had stunned the San Diego Chargers a week earlier.

I'm not sure where to gauge the Chiefs as they have proven to be inconsistent this season, but with their 22nd-ranked rush defense, Denver should be able to establish the ground game this Sunday with their fifth-ranked rush offense.

That should make Tebow's day easier.

The Chiefs haven't been reliable this season and that makes me skeptical against a team coming in hot like the Broncos.
