WWE SmackDown Results: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Justin WatryNov 4, 2011

WWE SmackDown was a great show this week. Maybe I am still in a giving mood because of the Muppets being on Raw, but I really enjoyed tonight's show. The Blue Brand continues to challenge Raw each and every week as the better show.

WWE SmackDown had a few great moments, while only a few parts put a damper on the episode. Of course, there is no reason to waste any more time. Let's get right to the amazing opening 30 minutes!

The Good

Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes deserved top billing this week. That is how you have a match. From the beginning bell, I knew I was going to be in for a treat. These two just flat out worked!

Some will jump all over Orton winning again, but it was the right move. Now is not the time for Cody to be beating top guys. There will be a time for that. Both guys looked amazing, and it was a great start to the show.

I mention this every couple weeks, but it is always a great change of pace to start out a wrestling show with an actual match. No, not every week. Not even once a month. However, once in awhile, a match should start the show. Tonight did just that, and WWE gets majors props from me!

Mark Henry and The Big Show continued their epic feud. Henry cut a great promo. He even had a nice little match with Daniel Bryan. Big Show was a little too happy go lucky, but it worked fine in the end. Both are headed for a huge clash, and I am very excited to see it...

Sheamus versus Wade Barrett was a great match. These two had something special going, but time restraints cut into that. Wade picked up another win, while Sheamus was cheated out of the match. It worked on all levels, and it was a cool secondary main event of the night. My hat goes off to both men for putting on a fun ten minute match.

Brodus Clay was teased for Monday night, and I am very high on this man. Having seen him in NXT and with Alberto Del Rio, I have tons of faith in this guy's talents.

The Bad

I am the last guy to rip on the diva's quality of matches, but Alicia Fox versus Natayla was not very fun to watch. Fox won, and I wish I knew why. Eve could have won here, as she has the next title match. Even the finish of the bout was pretty weak. I am a huge fan of Alicia Fox, but this was not entertaining.

Ted Dibiase versus Tyson Kidd served no purpose. It really didn't. If this was to push Ted, then go for him! I look forward to it, but nothing made me care here. Just winning a match and smiling afterwards is not enough to get me to care.

The Ugly

Christian needs something to do. His "one more match" gimmick has more than played itself out. Losing to Sheamus again at Survivor Series is not going to do anything either. Give this man something to do or I will slowly not care.

Sin Cara and his entire little feud also did nothing for me. I saw the "mask versus mask" stipulation as the end for me. After that, it is going to take a miracle to get me invested again. Tonight was just not the night for this...sorry!

Last but not least, there is no need for Daniel Bryan to tease about cashing in. The very fact that he is thinking about cashing in early goes against everything he stands for. It goes against everything he has stood for the past year in WWE.

The only saving grace is if this is some sort of slow-burn heel turn for Bryan. If not, I did not enjoy this entire story tonight. I really didn't. I want him nowhere near the main event scene for the next few months.

Please keep Bryan away from the title picture until February/March! Until then, I want him nowhere near the World title, much less a match with the current champion. It will make his cash in at Wrestle Mania all the more special.

In conclusion, I loved the bigger segments. The top card of SmackDown is very entertaining these days. The mid-card or even lower card is not doing much right now. I will give this show an even "B" grade.
