NFL Picks Week 8: Mike Wallace and WRs Who Will Have Big Games in Wins This Week

Michael MillOct 28, 2011

It feels like wide receivers just don't enough credit for a team's offensive success week to week.

Think about it. We are always talking about the wonderful performances of the quarterback or the fantastic day the running back had.

Rarely do we take the time to notice elite wide receivers and the huge impact they have on games. This is despite the fact that typically there are wide receivers with unbelievable games each and every weekend.

Here are three wide receivers who will have huge success in their teams victories this weekend.

Mike Wallace (Pittsburgh Steelers)

This weekend's matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots is shaping up to be one of the shootouts this weekend.

Ben Roethlisberger is on the top of his game and Tom Brady is doing his typical thing.

The big difference in this game will be the Patriots passing defense, which is currently ranked last in the league.

Mike Wallace is quickly emerging as an elite receiver in the league and it's going unnoticed. He is currently ranked third in the league with 730 receiving yards. Look for a huge game from Wallace against the Patriots.

Hakeem Nicks (New York Giants)

Did you know that Eli Manning is currently off to one of the best starts of his career in New York?

Currently, he is ranked fourth in quarterback passer rating, behind only Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees.

His primary target, Hakeem Nicks, has been on the receiving end of the majority of his passes. Nicks is currently ranked seventh in the league in receiving yards.

The Giants have a dream matchup this weekend against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins secondary is suspect at best. They had a great week last week against Tim Tebow. This weekend they will be crushed by Eli Manning and Hakeem Nicks.

Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers)

Just when everyone was ready to dismiss Steve Smith as a player past his prime and ready to head towards retirement, rookie Cam Newton came to Carolina and lit a fire under him.

Smith is currently leading the NFL in receiving. He has 39 catches for 818 yards. He has 17 receptions of 20 or more yards.

This weekend the fifth-ranked pass offense in Carolina takes on the 28th-ranked pass defense of Minnesota.

Look for Steve Smith to finish the day with his fifth 100-yard performance this season.
