2011 Fantasy Football: Start/Sit Advice NFL Week 8
Here’s a look at LestersLegends sit and start advice as you set your lineups for the eighth week of the NFL season.
Quarterbacks
Start:
Eli Manning vs. Miami: In his past four games Eli is averaging 321.8 yards with nine touchdowns to three interceptions. The Dolphins are allowing 257.5 passing yards and 2.0 passing touchdowns per game.
Sit:
Matt Cassel vs. San Diego: Cassel has seven touchdowns to three picks in his past four games and had a 102.1 passer rating against the Chargers in Week 3. However, the Chargers are coming off a tough loss to the Jets and are only giving up 175.7 passing yards per game. If you don’t have the stomach to start Joe Flacco against Arizona despite the favorable match-up, I don’t blame you after that MNF disaster.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Running Backs
Start:
Darren Sproles @ St. Louis: The Rams just allowed DeMarco Murray to put up numbers that Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett, and Herschel Walker could never reach. I don’t expect Sproles to do anything close to what Murray did, but he should be able to top the 88.3 total yards he’s averaging on the year, especially if Mark Ingram is limited.
Sit:
Montario Hardesty @ San Francisco: Hardesty ran for 95 yards last week against Seattle, but it took him 33 attempts to do so. The Niners are second in the league with 74.7 rushing yards allowed per game. He’d likely need another 30+ carries to reach that mark, which probably won’t happen again, especially if Peyton Hillis is in the mix.
Wide Receivers
Start:
Jabar Gaffney @ Buffalo: Gaffney takes over as the Redskins’ number one receiver with Santana Moss out. He has had at least 54 yards in every game this year so a complete dud seems unlikely. Buffalo is giving up 284.8 passing yards per game.
Sit:
Malcom Floyd @ Kansas City: In four of Floyd’s six games he has gone for 45 yards or less. With Antonio Gates back there are even fewer mouths to feed. Unless Floyd catches a deep ball, his fantasy value is minimized.
Tight Ends
Start:
Fred Davis @ Buffalo: After losing two key pieces in the passing game (Moss, Hightower) last week there will be more opportunities for Fred Davis. He should be in fantasy lineups the rest of the season.
Sit:
Greg Olsen vs. Minnesota: Even though the Vikings struggle against tight ends Olsen is a tough play because he’s dealing with a toe injury. With a capable compadre in Jeremy Shockey and a bye week looming, Olsen is a risky play this week.
Defenses
Start:
New York Giants vs. Miami: The Dolphins are locked into a heated race towards Andrew Luck. They have issues galore, particularly in protecting the quarterback. Matt Moore has been knocked around the past few weeks and is dealing with sore ribs. The way the G-Men get after the QB, you could be looking at a third string quarterback.
Sit:
Pittsburgh vs. New England: I know you didn’t draft Pittsburgh to sit them on your bench, but even if they were playing at their normal level, it would be hard to start them against the Patriots.
