What's At Stake?
The Titans lost a huge divisional game against the Houston Texans last week and need to pull off a win against the Colts here to make up ground in the AFC South.
They still have playoff aspirations, and the team has been a surprise this season for their generally solid play.
Indianapolis would almost be better off losing this game, as their season is done and they would get a better draft choice if they could avoid "pointless" wins.
Colts Injury Report (via CBSSports.com)
RB Joseph Addai, QST (Hamstring): Addai missed Week 6 with a hamstring injury and re-aggravated it against the Saints on Sunday night. He is limited in practice and most likely won’t see action this week.
Titans Injury Report (via CBSSports.com)
DB Chris Hope, DBT (Forearm): Hope underwent surgery earlier this month and is expected to miss four to six weeks. He more than likely won’t be back in time for this game.
Fantasy Start 'Em, Sit' Em and Sleeper
Start ‘Em: Chris Johnson
If Johnson is going to have a big game this year, it’s going to be against the Colts in Week 8.
He has yet to live up to his first-round draft status, and he could at least give owners some hope with a monster game this week.
Sit ‘Em: Pierre Garcon
The Painter-Garcon connection looked epic, for about three weeks.
Now the two are reverting to their old ways and woefully underperforming and getting blown out. I won’t expect much out of these guys, especially against…
Sleeper: Titans Defense
The Titans have one of the more underrated defenses in the league this season and could be poised for a big day against the Colts.
I could see some fumbles bouncing their way, a pick or two and possibly a score as they frustrate Painter and his lackluster offense.
What They're Saying
Titans coach Mike Munchak told The Tennessean he is not going to bench Chris Johnson or mess with his offensive line anymore because the run game has been so poor.
"“We are not running the ball the way you’d like,” Munchak said, “but when you change the offensive line, it can’t be a one-week thought. You may mess up more things. … In the passing game, those five guys are doing a really good job.
“So, is it worth sacrificing if maybe we get 10 to 20 yards more rushing if the quarterback gets hit three or four more times because you have communication problems? You have to account for all the factors, and sometimes it is not worth the risk.”
"
Phillip B. Wilson over at The Indy Star points out that the Colts wasted a ton of money on a QB who didn’t play much this season.
"The Kerry Collins experiment -- a costly $4 million for a 17th-year quarterback who completed 49 percent of his passes in three starts -- likely ended Tuesday when the Indianapolis Colts placed him on injured reserve due to a concussion
"
Colts Player to Watch: Delone Carter
This rookie fourth-round pick may be the Colts starting RB of the future.
He has been playing well with Joseph Addai out and had the only decent performance for the team last week, going for 89 yards and a TD on 10 carries.
Titans Player to Watch: Chris Johnson
As mentioned earlier, CJ needs to get back to his previous form if he wants to live up to that massive offseason deal he signed.
The guy obviously has skill; the question is, can he find that magic again?
Key Matchup: Colts Pass Rush vs. Titans O-Line
We all know the Titans can’t block worth anything on the ground, but they have been decent at protecting Matt Hasselbeck.
If they can pressure him into mistakes, the Colts could squeak out a win.
On the Hotseat: Jim Caldwell
We all knew Peyton Manning was the reason the Colts succeeded, but Jim Caldwell is honestly a terrible coach.
Losing 62-7 with any group of NFL players is inexcusable, and this guy isn’t a coach that will lead them anywhere.
