College Basketball Recruiting: Top 15 Juniors and Where They Could Land in 2013

Eric HampfordOct 27, 2011

The class of 2013 already has the hoops world buzzing with the number of talented recruits tearing up our nation's high school gyms. It's a pretty fair assumption that three of its best recruits stand out as bonafide future college All-Americans and NBA stars.

Behind them, there are a number of prospects who will be instant impact players when they reach the collegiate level. Here are the15 most talented recruits in the current junior class. Each one has their own unique recruitment, and none have made a college commitment yet. If you're looking for the best guess on where each of these stand-outs will land, you came to the right place.

1. Jabari Parker

1 of 15

Height: 6'8"

Weight: 220 pounds

Hometown: Chicago, Illinois

High School: Simeon Career Academy

Position: Small Forward

Schools involved: Duke, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan State, Washington, BYU and many others

School most likely to land him at this point: Last month, 42 schools were represented at Simeon High School to see Jabari Parker work out. Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski even showed up in a stretch limo. Parker is a great kid and the lure of playing at a school as academically impressive as Duke puts the Blue Devils in the lead right now for this rare talent.

2. Julius Randle

2 of 15

Height: 6'9"

Weight: 225 pounds

Hometown: Dallas, Texas

High School: Prestonwood Christian Academy

Position: Power Forward

Schools involved: Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Baylor, Texas, Oklahoma, TCU, Kansas, Missouri and Ohio State

School most likely to land him at this point: Right now, Randle is wide open with his list. He has expressed an interest in Kentucky's program, and it has to help that their current star, Terrence Jones, plays much like Randle. Coach Cal could use this to sway the power forward to Lexington.

3. Nerlens Noel

3 of 15

Height: 6'10"

Weight: 215 pounds

Hometown: Boston, Massachusetts

High School: The Tilton School

Position: Center

Schools involved: Kentucky, Florida, Kansas, Providence, Syracuse, Georgetown

School most likely to land him at this point: The nation's highest ranked center is a game-changer on the defensive end of the floor. He may be the best shot blocker to come out of high school since Greg Oden in 2006. He is wide open right now, but will be cutting his list before his high school season starts. Jim Boeheim has already had Noel on campus and the school is in close proximity to his home. Getting Dajuan Coleman could also help lure him to Orange country.

4. Andrew Harrison

4 of 15

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 210 pounds

Hometown: Houston, Texas

High School: Travis High School

Position: Point Guard

Schools involved: Arizona, Kentucky, Villanova, Baylor, Maryland, Texas

School most likely to land him at this point: Without a doubt the top point guard in his class, Andrew Harrison has interest from schools all over the country. John Calipari's recent success with point guards has to be enticing to him and he could be part of a big-time 2013 class for the Wildcats.

5. Chris Thomas

5 of 15

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 190 pounds

Hometown: Denver, Colorado

High School: South Kent School

Position: Shooting Guard

Schools involved: Arizona, Colorado, Memphis, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville

School most likely to land him at this point: Talent has never been an issue for the shooting guard, it's been his attitude. South Kent will be his fourth high school in three years, and that's a red flag for many programs. However, his extraordinary talent has the top-of-the-line colleges banging down his door. I think that Arizona coach Sean Miller is doing everything in his power to bring Thomas closer to his home on the west coast for 2013.

6. Aaron Gordon

6 of 15

Height: 6'7"

Weight: 210 pounds

Hometown: San Jose, California

High School: Archbishop Mitty High School

Position: Power Forward

Schools involved: Arizona, Washington, Stanford, Oregon, Kansas

School most likely to land him at this point: This high level athlete comes from an athletic family, with his brother currently starring for the New Mexico Lobos. Arizona just landed his AAU teammate and friend, Brandon Ashley, and the pedigree of the west coast power could prove too alluring for Gordon to pass up. Oregon could also make a surprise push for him.

7. Aaron Harrison

7 of 15

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 205 pounds

Hometown: Houston, Texas

High School: Travis High School

Position: Shooting Guard

Schools involved: Arizona, Kentucky, Maryland, Villanova, Baylor, Texas

School most likely to land him at this point: Many of the same schools are recruiting them both Aaron his twin brother Andrew (#4 on this list). This duo looks to be a package deal for a very lucky school. Kentucky looks like the frontrunner.

8. Chris Walker

8 of 15

Height: 6'10"

Weight: 195 pounds

Hometown: Bonifay, Florida

High School: Holmes County High School

Position: Power Forward

Schools involved: Florida State, Florida, Kentucky, Syracuse, Ohio State, Memphis

School most likely to land him at this point: The high-rising power forward has expressed interest in playing for Kentucky, but he's cooled on the Wildcats recently. Look for a big season from the Florida Gators to make the small town phenom want to play his college ball close to home.

9. Solomon Poole

9 of 15

Height: 6'0"

Weight: 180 pounds

Hometown: Jacksonville, Florida

High School: Terry Parker High School

Position: Shooting Guard

Schools involved: Louisville, Memphis, Miami, Georgia, South Carolina

School most likely to land him at this point: The brother of Kentucky's Stacey Poole, Solomon has a strong game. He has been rapidly improving, and expect his list to grow in both number and quality teams offering him. His father played at Florida, and if the Gators don't offer, I wouldn't count him out of playing for either Florida State or Miami.

10. Ishmail Wainright

10 of 15

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 220 pounds

Hometown: Raytown, Missouri

High School: Montrose Christian High School

Position: Small Forward

Schools involved: Arkansas, Missouri, West Virginia, St. John's

School most likely to land him at this point: The powerful small forward is a defensive star with an improving offensive game. Missouri and Arkansas are the frontrunners to land the Show Me State native. Expect Mizzou head coach Frank Haith to target him as his main 2013 priority.

11. Jabari Bird

11 of 15

Height: 6'6"

Weight: 190 pounds

Hometown: Richmond, California

High School: Salesian High School

Position: Shooting Guard

Schools involved: Arizona, Cal, Washington, Colorado, UCLA, Oregon

School most likely to land him at this point: The wiry shooting guard is pretty much a lock to stay in Pac-12 country. Sean Miller may have a historic program to sell at Arizona, but Dana Altman is in the process of ushering in a new era of Oregon Ducks basketball. Along with friends and AAU teammates Dominic Artis and Aaron Gordon, I am predicting all three to head to the Pacific Northwest.

12. Nate Britt

12 of 15

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 165 pounds

Hometown: Washington, DC

High School: Gonzaga College High School

Position: Point Guard

Schools involved: Arizona, North Carolina, Georgetown, Maryland, Duke, Pittsburgh, Villanova, Virginia

School most likely to land him at this point: The left-handed floor general has many suitors, but two seem to be in the lead for his services. After taking official visits over the past few months, North Carolina and Maryland are standing out for the cat-quick point guard.

13. Stephen Domingo

13 of 15

Height: 6'6"

Weight: 180 pounds

Hometown: San Francisco, California

High School: St. Ignatius High School

Position: Small Forward

Schools involved: California, Georgetown, Arizona, Arizona State, Harvard, Memphis, San Diego State

School most likely to land him at this point: The lights-out Bay Area shooter is an academically minded athlete who is looking for a perfect fit. He recently took visits to Arizona and Arizona State, and the Wildcats seem to be in the lead to land him at this point in his recruitment.

14. Allerik Freeman

14 of 15

Height: 6'4"

Weight: Shooting Guard

Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina

High School: Olympic High School

Position: Shooting Guard

Schools involved: Arizona, Georgetown, North Carolina State, Villanova, Kansas, Kansas State, Syracuse

School most likely to land him at this point: Freeman blew up nationally this past year, and it shows with his 21 division one scholarship offers. Arizona is the most recent to offer him, and he took unofficial visits to Kansas and Kansas State this month. North Carolina State might just be able to keep the Charlotte product at home with Mark Gottfried's recent recruiting prowess. Landing Top 100 recruits Rodney Purvis and Tyler Lewis has to impress Freeman.

15. Aquille Carr

15 of 15

Height: 5'7"

Weight: 150 pounds

Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland

High School: Patterson High School

Position: Point Guard

Schools involved: Connecticut, Louisville, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Memphis, Kentucky, Seton Hall

School most likely to land him at this point: The highly regarded point guard is starting to become one of the most popular players in the country due to his amazing dribbling skills. Kentucky is said to be one of the schools who have offered him, and if that's the case, don't expect Coach Cal to miss lose the battle for the exciting lead guard.
