Dolphins vs. Jets: Rex Ryan's Jets Shouldn't Be Too Happy with Week 6 Victory
With their 24-6 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Monday night, the New York Jets "improved" to 3-3 on the season.
While a win is still a win, the Jets still have a long way to go before they can back up head coach Rex Ryan's claim that they are bound for Super Bowl glory.
The Jets, coming off three straight losses, beat a winless Dolphins team on Monday. In short, they beat a bad team that is now 0-5 on the season and among the worst teams in the NFL.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Quarterback Mark Sanchez, who has yet to prove he's the guy to lead the Jets to a title, was good, but not great, against a pass defense that was giving up 307 passing yards per game coming into the two teams' matchup (second-worst in the league).
Sanchez finished 14-of-25 for 201 yards passing and one touchdown in the game. Not only that, but the rushing game has yet to get off the ground, averaging 3.6 yards per carry on Monday. Veteran LaDainian Tomlinson, who was supposed to be giving way to Shonn Greene this season, actually averaged more yards per carry than Greene. That's because Greene, like Sanchez, has yet to prove he's the man for the job.
And let us be clear: the Dolphins were simply bad on Monday. They were without starting quarterback Chad Henne, backup Matt Moore came in and threw two interceptions (completing under 50 percent of his passes in the process) and Dolphins receivers, including the talkative Brandon Marshall, repeatedly fumbled passes.
On top of all this, the Jets were playing at home. If they actually lost to the Dolphins, we would be writing them off a mere six weeks into the season.
Yes, the Jets' pass defense is solid (thank you, Darrelle Revis), but they still have trouble stopping the run, allowing Reggie Bush, of all people, to rush for 71 yards on 10 carries on Monday. Bush was averaging 3.0 yards per carry coming into the contest.
The Jets were noticeably excited after their win on Monday. It's understandable given a win is always nice and they are a confident bunch.
But I hope they understand they won against a poor team on Monday. All they proved is that they're not a poor team.
