NFL Picks Week 6: Will Dolphins or Jets Be Victorious on Monday Night Football?
The Miami Dolphins are in serious trouble. The 'Fins sit at 0-4 entering their Monday night showdown with the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, and things could be just about to get a whole lot worse.
With Chad Henne out for the season thanks to surgery on his separated left shoulder, Miami has turned its offense over to journeyman signal-caller Matt Moore. The 27-year-old Moore will make his first start for the Dolphins Monday night, and he is likely to face a Jets defense looking to take out some aggression on him.
New York sits at 2-3, having dropped three-straight games and haven't looked good doing so. Offensively, the Jets are an absolute mess, as they are ranked 22nd in passing yards (221.2 yards per game) and 31st in rushing yards (76.2 yards per game). Even more troubling, the Jets have been uncharacteristically soft against the run defensively, allowing 134.8 yards per game (28th in the league). That is bad news for a team whose calling card has always been defensive toughness.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Luckily for the Jets, they face a Miami team that is reeling right now. Moore's career numbers are pretty awful, as he has completed just 58.4 percent of his passes, has thrown 16 touchdowns and 18 interceptions and boasts a quarterback rating of 73.5 in 23 career games.
Tonight, expect the Jets to sellout to stop the run and force Moore to beat them with his arm. Rex Ryan will likely opt to leave his cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie in one-on-one coverage on the outside, while stacking the box to stop Miami's 14th-ranked rushing attack (115.3 yards per game).
I have to believe that, at home tonight, the Jets will at least temporarily right the ship against a Dolphins team that could be the worst in the NFL. Ryan will dial up tons of blitzes to pressure Moore, and with rookie running back Daniel Thomas still bothered by an injured hamstring, the Jets should be able to shut the Dolphins down.
This one is New York's to lose.
