Fantasy Football Week 6 Waiver Wire: Ted Ginn, Greg Little and WRs To Pick Up

Josh MartinOct 14, 2011

Has the bye-week portion of the 2011 NFL season got your fantasy football team feeling down? Are you looking for some love at the wide receiver position, perhaps?

Don't fret, friends, because there is hope for you in your league yet. These pass catchers are on the up-and-up, so be sure to pick 'em up before their stocks skyrocket and you're left on the outside looking in.

Ted Ginn, San Francisco 49ers

With Joshua Morgan out for the remainder of the season with a fractured leg and Braylon Edwards still recovering from knee surgery, the 49ers will need to find someone to pick up the slack heading into this weekend's shootout in Detroit with the Lions.

Who better to fill the void than Ted Ginn Jr? He's caught only four balls all season but figures to get more snaps at wide receiver and more targets from Alex Smith with San Fran's receiving corps as banged up as it is. If nothing else, Ginn will pack in some points on special teams against the Lions, who give up better than 30 yards per kick return.

Greg Little, Cleveland Browns

Word out of Browns camp during their bye week suggested that Greg Little, the rookie out of North Carolina, had surpassed Brian Robiskie on the team's depth chart and will start wide at Oakland on Sunday.

True, Pat Shurmur's passing game leaves about as much to be desired in Cleveland as it did when he was in St. Louis, but there's reason to think Little will still be a valuable pickup. He's a big, physical receiver who'll be the perfect target for Colt McCoy and, for this week at least, he will have his way with a Raiders defense that ranks 29th in the NFL against the pass and has surrendered 10 receiving touchdowns to date.

Pierre Garcon, Indianapolis Colts

For whatever reason, Curtis Painter has taken much more kindly to Pierre Garcon than he has to Reggie Wayne...or is it the other way around?

Either way, if the Garcon's last two games haven't clued you in, allow me to do so—he's the Colts' most productive fantasy player right now. He's posted 100-yard, two-touchdown receiving performances in each of his last two games, and while he'll have to operate against a surprisingly effective Bengals defensive backfield this week, he won't have to worry about dealing with the blanket coverage of Leon Hall.

That distinction will fall instead to Wayne, who will once again be left to pine for the good ol' days of Peyton Manning under center.
