Week 6 Start Em Sit Em: Drew Brees and 4 QBs You Must Start

John RozumOct 14, 2011

We know each week no matter what they're health status may be, that if QBs like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady are going to play, they're obviously going to start and play well at the same token.

So, we're going to tackle some of the other QBs (if only literally speaking) that should also get the start, especially if you're on the fence about them.

To that end, here are four QBs who get the nod in Week 6.

Drew Brees, Saints (at Buccaneers)

Yes his name is in the headline so you knew Brees was going to be on here, and yes, he's arguably as good as Brady and Rodgers.

Only difference about Brees however, he is more prone to throwing picks than Brady or Rodgers, plus he does have a much tougher matchup on the road in Tampa Bay, who's hungry for a W after getting stomped in San Fran.

The Bucs do play better at home and only allow an average of 16.67 when they play in Raymond James Stadium, whereas the Saints average 25.67 points away from the Superdome.

Something obviously has to give, or take, and Brees does so as he slices the No. 20 ranked pass defense for 325 yards and two TDs.

Joe Flacco, Ravens (vs Texans)

Even though the Ravens only have the No. 18 ranked passing offense, Joe Flacco has the ability to dominate when given the opportunity.

He's definitely capitalizing on a solid defense and ground game, but even with the No. 6 pass defense ranked Texans coming in to Baltimore this week, they're without LB Mario Williams.

And although he's not nearly much of a coverage guy as he is a run-stuffer, it's still very significant because now the Ravens will have an easier time setting up the play action.

Additionally, Flacco has the weapons who match up well with Houston's secondary, but with the Baltimore defense consistently setting the offense up in good field position (as Houston is also without WR Andre Johnson), Joey will toss for 270 yards and two TDs.

Cam Newton, Panthers (at Falcons)

Only in Carolina's win at Jacksonville has Cam Newton been slowed down.

And that shouldn't be a problem this week, as not only are the Panthers making the short trip to the Georgia Dome, but the Atlanta Falcons' defense ranks No. 28 against the pass.

That said, they do rank No. 8 against the rush, but it can mainly be due to offenses choosing to run the ball on them, as it's easier to throw.

Well, expect the Panthers to do the same, because until Atlanta proves they can stop someone via air, no one is going to bother running the ball against them.

As for Newton, he'll hit around 300 with two TDs, but also add one more rushing because Atlanta will have a lot in coverage (since it is their weakness), therefore neglecting to blitz.

Tony Romo, Cowboys (at Patriots)

Mentioned in the intro was New England QB Tom Brady, but his opposing QB Tony Romo gets on the list.

We know Brady is going to dominate, so why go with someone who's never going to sit the bench in fantasy football.

Romo, on the other hand, is not only under scrutiny for choking late in games, but he is injury prone as well.

With that in mind, he still should start this week as he gets Miles Austin back and Dez Bryant is close to 100 percent, and New England has the No. 32 ranked pass defense.

Let's put it this way: If Bill Belichick's defense let Chad Henne throw for over 400 and not get one pick on Mark Sanchez, Romo will dominate (350 yards, three TDs), as he's better than both of those guys combined.

Also, don't be surprised if Dallas pulls off the road upset, as they are very capable of doing so.
