Carrier Classic: President Obama to Attend Michigan State-North Carolina Battle
The November 11th matchup between college basketball powerhouses Michigan State and North Carolina is a newsworthy event on its own.
The fact that it will be the first major college basketball game to ever be played on an aircraft carrier, the USS Carl Vinson, is especially newsworthy.
Now that it has been announced that President Barack Obama will be in attendance, it is turning into a huge event.

Obama, famously a big college basketball fan, has already been a part of his share of basketball-related events.
Recently, he needed 12 stitches in his lip after he was elbowed during a pickup game.
His brother-in-law, Craig Robinson, is the head coach of the Oregon State Beavers.
Last year, he served as a commentator during part of a Georgetown-Duke game and, every year, he publicly fills out his NCAA bracket during an ESPN special.
This will only further cement Obama's status as a die-hard basketball follower.
The basketball court will apparently be built on the deck and, if it rains, it will be moved to the hangar deck. Who would have thought that an aircraft carrier had so much room for basketball courts?
It will seat roughly 7,000 people, but forget about trying to acquire a ticket, as mostly servicemen will be attending.
Admiral Dennis Moynihan, the Navy's chief spokesman, had this to say about Obama's expected attendance:
""We're honored that President Obama plans to attend the game on the Carl Vinson. The ship is a representative of more than 100 Navy ships that are deployed right now. We see this as a celebration of service for all veterans, and we also see this as a great opportunity to showcase what our Navy does on a daily basis."
"
James Worthy and Magic Johnson are set to be honorary captains for their respective schools.
