NFL Picks Week 6: Will Indianapolis Colts or Miami Dolphins Stay Winless?

Chris TrapassoOct 13, 2011

Which team will stay winless this weekend, the Curtis Painter-led Indianapolis Colts or the Matt Moore-led Miami Dolphins?

Indy faces a stiffer test than we initially expected in the Cincinnati Bengals, a youthful team with a ferocious defense that has currently given up the fewest yards in the league.

For the Dolphins, they travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the downward spiraling New York Jets.

With no wins, you're always going to be the underdog, but we've seen a great deal of upsets this season.

Let's start in Cincinnati and breakdown the Colts matchup with the upstart Bengals.

Colts at Bengals

The Bengals defensive front seven has quietly become one of the best in football, with a trio of Samoan players leading the charge, Domata Peko, Jon Fanene and Rey Maualuga.

They get it done by generating pressure on the quarterback with their front four which allows their secondary and some linebackers to drop back into coverage, making it extremely difficult to find open receivers and throwing lanes.

Painter has his work cut out of him this week, that's for sure.

On offense, Andy Dalton and A.J. Green are slowly proving that they belong in this league. The rookie signal caller is limiting his mistakes and Green already has lived up to his "big-play" hype.

With the balance they're demonstrating on both offense and defense, I see Cincinnati winning their fourth game of the season at home against the Colts.

Dolphins at Jets

Both teams are certainly not where they expected to be right now. The Dolphins have been torched on defense and aren't getting consistent production from their quarterback or ground game. The Jets are riding a three-game losing streak into Miami, and although they were more successful running the football last week, they aren't playing up to Rex Ryan's standards on offense or defense.

With Matt Moore making his first start of the season, I expect the Jets head coach and defensive mastermind to disguise a variety of blitzes to make the Dolphins signal caller extremely uncomfortable early on.

Running back Shonn Greene should again shoulder the load on the ground and I think they open up the playbook a bit for Sanchez, who's facing the 31st-ranked passing defense (numbers skewed a touch by Tom Brady's 500-yard night in Week 1).

In the end, I see both team's going down, but I think the Dolphins, who are very familiar with the Jets, make their game close and fall short late in the fourth quarter.
