NFL Week 6: Who's Hot, Who's Not This Week in the League for Fantasy
In NFL Week 6, players are expected to have a feel for what their team will be able to do since it is about one-third through the season. Week 6 features six teams with bye weeks, but 10 teams continue on to either prove they are a playoff contender or just a pushover.
Their are players who had great Week 5 performances that could be valuable fantasy commodities for Week 6 at the quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end positions.
Who's Hot: Quarterbacks
1 of 8Ben Roethlisberger, PIT:
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Roethlisberger may have only thrown for 225 yards, but he had a season-high five touchdown passes compared to one interception.
Matt Cassel, KC:
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Cassel had 257 yards and four touchdown passes in the big 28-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Aaron Rodgers, GB:
Rodgers led the 5-0 Green Bay Packers to a 25-14 win over the Atlanta Hawks. He threw for 396 yards and had two touchdown passes.
Who's Not: Quarterbacks
2 of 8Josh Freeman, TB:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB had a really rough week. He only threw for 187 yards and was picked off twice in the embarrassing 48-3 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Kevin Kolb, ARZ:
The Arizona Cardinals quarterback was picked off twice and only had 232 passing yards in the 34-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Matt Ryan, ATL:
The Atlanta Hawks quarterback is on a free fall and only threw for 167 yards and one touchdown against the Green Bay Packers. He was also picked off twice.
Who's Hot: Running Backs
3 of 8BenJarvus Green-Ellis, NE:
The New England Patriots go-to guy rushed 27 times for 136 yards. He also scored two touchdowns in the big 30-21 win over the rival New York Jets.
Adrian Peterson, MIN:
Not to be outdone, the Minnesota Vikings running back had 29 carries for 122 yards and he scored three touchdowns. This was all against the lowly Arizona Cardinals defense.
Fred Jackson, BUF:
The Buffalo Bills offense is clicking on all cylinders thanks to this guy. He had 26 carries for 111 yards and scored a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Who's Not: Running Backs
4 of 8Cedric Benson, CIN:
Benson carried 24 times, but only ran for 53 yards in the Cincinnati Bengals' 30-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG:
He finished with 58 yards on 17 rushing attempts in the 36-25 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Michael Turner, ATL:
The Atlanta Falcons running back finished with 16 carries for 56 yards. He may have scored a touchdown, but you need more yardage to be an effective running back.
Who's Hot: Wide Receivers
5 of 8Dwayne Bowe, KC:
Mostly thanks to Matt Cassell, Bowe had a great Week 5 with seven receptions for 128 yards and two scores against the Indianapolis Colts.
Victor Cruz, NYG:
Cruz had a huge day with eight catches for 161 yards and a touchdown, though his team lost 36-25.
Pierre Garcon, IND:
Garcon totaled five catches for 125 yards and hauled in two touchdown passes.
Who's Not: Wide Receivers
6 of 8Vincent Jackson, SD:
Jackson was targeted six times but only grabbed three balls for a total of 34 yards in the 29-24 win over the Denver Broncos.
Sidney Rice, SEA:
Rice is supposed to be the No. 1 receiver for the Seahawks, but he only caught four passes for 38 yards in the 36-25 win over the New York Giants.
Plaxico Burress, NYJ:
Burress has not been that great for the Jets, and only catching three passes for 42 yards is not enough to help the Jets win a game—especially for being targeted eight times.
Who's Hot: Tight Ends
7 of 8Joel Dreessen, HOU:
Dreessen had five receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown and was targeted a total of nine times in the loss to the Oakland Raiders.
Jimmy Graham, NO:
Graham had eight catches for 129 yards for the Saints. He did not score a touchdown, but Drew Brees definitely will target him this week.
Jake Ballard, NYG:
Ballard had a big day with 72 yards and a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks.
Who's Not: Tight Ends
8 of 8Randy McMichael, SD:
The Chargers targeted him six times and he only caught four of the passes for 29 yards.
Jeremy Shockey, CAR:
Shockey was targeted seven times and only caught three passes for 21 yards.
Rob Housler, ARZ:
Housler was disappointing for the Cardinals with only three catches for 25 yards when he was targeted eight times.
