NFL Coaches on the Hot Seat, Week 6 Edition

Tony SantorsaOct 10, 2011

Five weeks of the NFL season have no been completed, and now we can get a better idea of which teams are pretenders and contenders.

With that being said, when teams end up being labeled pretenders, the team's head coach has a real solid shot of being placed on the hot seat.

For weeks now, it's seems like Tony Sparano's hot seat is getting hotter and hotter, but thankfully his Miami Dolphins had a much-needed bye this week.

As Sparano's seat is heating up by the minute, which other coaches are joining him on this week's edition of coaches on the hot seat?

Jack Del Rio

It certainly appears that the days are numbered for Jack Del Rio as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Del Rio's Jaguars are off to a pitiful 1-4 start to the season with their most recent 30-20 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jacksonville may have one more win than the lousy Indianapolis Colts, but this team is certainly talented and has one of the better running backs in the NFL, Maurice Jones-Drew.

As the Jaguars' have been rolling with Blaine Gabbert as their starting quarterback, Jacksonville is almost prone to losing several games this season with Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Houston all on their slate for the next three weeks before their bye week.

The Miami Dolphins are a putrid 0-4 record, as they thankfully had a bye week this past weekend.

Miami currently sits at the bottom of the AFC East, behind the upstart Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and New York Jets—there is no chance that the Dolphins will make the playoffs this season, their division is just too competitive.

On top of playing in one of the NFL's top divisions, the Dolphins are moving on without their starting quarterback Chad Henne, as he was placed on injured reserve last week with a separated shoulder.

It's only a matter of time for Miami to part ways with Tony Sparano as their head coach.

Andy Reid

So much for being the "Dream Team," right?

Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles had the best offseason out of any team in the NFL, as he loaded both sides of the ball with talent—there are no excuses for Philadelphia's struggles this season.

The Eagles enter Week 6 with an awful 1-4 record, as they sit at the bottom of the NFC East.

Philadelphia is no where near being considered a "Dream Team;" in fact they're a bunch of frauds

If Philly's struggles continues, there's no way that Andy Reid survives 2011 as the team's head coach.

Ken Whisenhunt

Coming into 2011, I was expecting a lot out of the Arizona Cardinals in the lowly NFC West.

On paper, I confidently thought that the Cardinals were a very talented team with Kevin Kolb as the quarterback, which means that Larry Fitzgerald would only be more effective.

However, Ken Whisenhunt's team has been struggling as of late, losing four straight after knocking off the Carolina Panthers in Week 1.

If the Cardinals' losing streak continues, I think Coach Whiz's time as head coach in the desert is over.

Steve Spagnuolo

Blame it on Sam Bradford's sophomore slump, but either way, Steve Spagnuolo's job could be in jeopardy.

Spagnuolo is a great defensive mind, but his St. Louis Rams have allowed 28.2 points per game, which is second worst in the entire NFL.

St. Louis are coming off of a bye week with a record of 0-4 and will look to take on the Green Bay Packers this Sunday—which you can already jot down as a loss. In fact, you might as well jot down the next three weeks as losses with games against Green Bay, Dallas and New Orleans.
