Philadelphia Eagles: Why Super Bowl Hopes Are Officially Buried
The Philadelphia Eagles need to be seriously doubting their chances at making a Super Bowl run. At this point, they need to be concerned about their chances of making the playoffs. After today's loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Eagles are 1-4 and are struggling in every phase of the game.
A lot of the blame is being laid at the feet of Michael Vick, but he isn't the only one playing poorly. Outside of Vick, the offensive line is receiving a ton of criticism. This unit is struggling to protect the quarterback and open running lanes.
Vick has been the recipient of many big hits, even being forced out of two games. The pressure is coming from both sides of the offensive line. The constant pressure has taken a toll on Vick, as he appears increasing frustrated.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Of course, some blame needs to be given to the coaching staff. Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg have continued to rely on the passing game. This dependence on the passing game has limited the touches for LeSean McCoy, who has been one of the few bright spots.
Defensively, this unit has been one of the worst in the entire NFL. They are giving up nearly 140 rushing yards per game. Opposing teams' ability to run the football has resulted in a lot of long sustained drives. This keeps the offense off the field, allowing the opponent to control the time of possession.
Their inability to stop the run has also allowed teams to run out the clock.
In the passing game, the Eagles have surrendered a ton of big plays. The addition of Nnamdi Asomugha was expected to bolster this unit. They feature three very good cornerbacks including Asomugha, Asante Samuel and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The secondary has been as disappointing as the entire football team.
It is time for the Eagles to panic, as there are little signs of a winning football team.
