Week 5 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Fantasy Football: Antonio Brown and 5 WRs You Must Sit

Zach KruseOct 7, 2011

When setting your fantasy football lineups for Week 5 of the NFL season, you may want to consider sitting these five receivers:

Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers

Brown has been targeted 32 times already this season, which is a fantastic number for a guy who plays with established receivers like Mike Wallace and Hines Ward.

He's made the most of the targets, too, by catching 15 passes for almost 223 yards. That might tempt you to make him a starter in Week 5, but I'm not sure I'd jump on that bandwagon just yet.

Ben Roethlisberger will play, but could be limited. What's more, the Steelers offensive line has been nothing short of a mess. In addition, Pittsburgh are playing the second best pass defense in fantasy football in the Titans. You get a tough matchup to expect big numbers in a starting role.

Wallace is a starter against that defense, but Brown is a guy you should probably keep on the bench.

Mario Manningham, New York Giants

Manningham is fully recovered from the injury he suffered two weeks ago. However, Eli Manning looked more in tune with Victor Cruz against the Cardinals, while Manningham hardly saw a sniff in the second half.

Cruz has really impressed in the past two weeks and has earned the right for more targets this week. That likely means that Manningham's role will be reduced to some extent.

There is still potential here, due to the matchup, but don't be surprised if Cruz produces again at the expense of Manningham.

Darrius Heyward-Bey, Oakland Raiders

Don't be fooled by DHB's four-catch, 115-yard performance on Sunday against the Patriots. He had just five catches coming into that game, and the Raiders offense isn't one that is predicated on the pass.

Heyward-Bey is going to be the starter, but I'd roll my chances with a guy like Denarius Moore every time. Until there is some consistent production, Heyward-Bey will always just look good on paper.

Michael Crabtree, San Francisco 49ers

I'm not buying Crabtree yet, either. He has worked his way back from a foot injury and is getting more targets, but there has to be a trust factor when deciding to start receivers.

Crabtree is still playing with Alex Smith at quarterback, in an offense that likes to run the football.

The Buccaneers haven't done well against opposing receivers this season. However, you should still let Crabtree prove he can play on your bench, rather than prove the opposite while in your starting lineup.

Donald Driver, Green Bay Packers

Injuries are always issues for older players—and they are catching up with Driver—who still managed to catch a touchdown pass after returning to the game on Sunday.

Driver will likely play against the Falcons, but the Packers have so many other receiving options that they don't have to force him back in a big role.

In all reality, Driver is a risky start even when he's 100 percent.
