Mike Thomas: Jacksonville Jaguars Sign WR Mike Thomas to 3-Year Extension
According to Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed wide receiver Mike Thomas to a 3-year extension on Thursday.
Stellino reports that the extension is worth $18 million, with $9 million guaranteed.
The Jaguars selected Thomas in the fourth round of the 2009 draft. At only 5' 8'', Thomas is undersized by current NFL standards, but he's been compared to Carolina star Steve Smith in the past. If Thomas achieves anything like Smith's career production, the Jags will look like geniuses for locking him up early.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Thomas has 20 receptions through the first four weeks of the season, with an 11.1 yard average per catch.
This is the second player the Jags have extended this week. On Wednesday the team announced they signed special teams ace Montell Owens to a 3-year deal.
Previous to these contracts, the Jags were leading the league with $35.4 million in salary-cap room. That number is now smaller, but the Jags have ensured two key contributors will be around for few years.
