WWE: 10 Ways Sheamus Can Be the Top Face of SmackDown
There is no question Sheamus is sky-rocketing to the top of the WWE.
While I believe he will not take John Cena’s place as the poster-boy for WWE, he will definitely become the top face on WWE SmackDown.
I recently wrote an article detailing why Sheamus is the future of SmackDown, and I have now listed 10 different ways the Celtic Warrior can become a top face on the WWE B-show.
Enjoy!
Staying the Same
1 of 10As Sheamus is midway through his path to ultimate success, it would be detrimental to his character to change it in any way, shape or form.
He must keep the same entrance music, the same attire and the same demeanour if he is to continue on his quest to be the top face on SmackDown.
It is like when Steve Austin returned with updated entrance music; I could never take him seriously.
I do not want the same to happen with Sheamus.
Staying the same in every way is the best thing for him at the moment.
Leading a Stable
2 of 10Leading a face stable could help to propel Sheamus to the top of the mountain while also helping other superstars make a name for themselves.
I have already discussed a stable that Sheamus could be a part of in previous articles.
The Celtic Warriors, consisting of Sheamus, Drew McIntyre and Mason Ryan, could be an excellent way to achieve Sheamus’ goal of being on top, while at the same time developing these forgotten talents.
A play on the Celtic heritage present in each of their respective countries, the stable just seems like an obvious direction to me.
The modern Evolution if you will—after all, it didn’t do Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton any harm.
The only difference would be that this would have to be a face group.
Continuing to Defend the Other Faces on the Roster
3 of 10By defending the faces on the roster, he is coming across as a man to be scared of.
The crowd erupts and people flee the ring when Sheamus runs down the ramp to make a save.
This unrivalled pop and his loyalties confirm his status as face. It is pretty much cemented.
The reason saving other superstars can make Sheamus a top face is because it puts him in a higher position in terms of success if he has to save people who have failed to defend themselves.
Going over Mark Henry
4 of 10Mark Henry is an unstoppable monster who has beaten Randy Orton twice in two PPV events.
Sheamus did actually have a mini-feud with the World’s Strongest Man a few weeks back; it was a feud that both men came out of looking strong.
Mark Henry went over Sheamus, inducting him into the Hall of Pain in the process, but the respect that Sheamus earned from the WWE Universe from standing up to Mark Henry cannot be erased.
Beating Mark Henry would prove doubters wrong and leave no question that his power as a character and a man is unrivalled.
Not Messing Up
5 of 10This is imperative to his success in WWE.
One mistake and he could see himself jobbing to Hornswoggle in no time.
As long as he keeps performing to the highest standard, keeping his displays botch-free, there is no doubt Sheamus will be the top face on SmackDown.
This leads me neatly onto my next point.
Beating Randy Orton
6 of 10Randy is the top dog on SmackDown at the moment, despite the fact he is not the World Heavyweight Champion.
He is the equivalent of John Cena over on Raw, and Sheamus will have to go through him if he wishes to be the undisputed top face of SmackDown.
By beating the Viper, he will secure his place at the top of the pile.
SmackDown will then be his oyster.
But he must remember not to botch...
Being Involved in the “Conspiracy” Storyline as a Good Guy
7 of 10The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that Sheamus was not present for the vote of confidence on Monday Night Raw.
This means he is not tarred with the same brush as those who deserted The Game.
John Cena and Randy Orton weren’t there, either, and they are also major faces.
This leaves Sheamus free to team with these men to fight the rebellious employees of the WWE and restore order.
Helping to restore order in a company that is falling apart at the seams is one of the most “face” things one can do as a superstar, which brings me to my next point...
Being on the Face Team at WWE Survivor Series 2011
8 of 10It is pretty much assumed that Survivor Series will feature a fight between the people who want to take WWE down and the superstars wishing to restore order and quell the ever-growing mutiny.
If Sheamus is a part of this team rumoured to be featuring The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, it would be the ultimate push for the Celtic Warrior.
I’m getting to the end of the list and I feel after reviewing eight of these 10 points, Sheamus is definitely destined for greatness and legend status.
A Long Feud
9 of 10A long feud can help to develop a character arguably more than any other point on this list.
When I say a long feud, it must be engaging and have enough content to stretch it for at least a few months.
This can establish a superstar as a threat, a heel or a face and a top guy in the company.
This is exactly what Sheamus needs as he hasn't seem to have had a lengthy feud since his apparent rise to the main event scene.
This is another point that is pretty much mandatory for Sheamus if he wishes to progress to the status of top face of SmackDown.
Winning the World Heavyweight Championship
10 of 10This is the icing on the cake more than anything else.
If Sheamus does become the top face on SmackDown, as I have stated he will, he will likely have many World Heavyweight Championship reigns by the end of his career.
The Celtic Warrior will reign supreme!
